I have recently found 3 escort agency websites which list people’s real names. I inquired with the companies as to why they would do this and got various answers but they all said after being ripped off it was the only thing they felt they could do. Since discretion is such a big topic around here lately I won’t post the website links.

Comments? What do you think should be done about these sites if anything?

Wow....I had no idea that kind of thing went on.......WTF? Posting clients real names. Do they also post the names of providers as well? I think that perhaps thier ISP should be contacted with regard to this activity.

Well dude, ISP's offer "access" to the internet. They're not (nor should they be) held liable for you or some businesses choice of what to do with that connection. Shit like this reminds me of people that sue bars because they got too drunk and crashed their car or angry Christians that pay for Adult TV then are appalled their kids accidentally turned the station and saw a pussy at 4 PM (when they forgot to block the channel). For starters how about we see some "examples" of this shit...I mean if it's a website it's not a fucking secret. It's accessible to anyone with a wire into their house. Secondly, if you are aware the business is doing it, then STOP going there. Just like I don't hang out at the pub that asks me for my Visa.

And finally Athaire..if they're posting names of people that ripped them off, well if you're not ripping them off you're probably not going to end up on their site. I don't lie awake at night wondering if I'm going to end up on the most wanted list at the police station when my biggest crime is doing 54 in a 40 zone.

It is the names of clients and drivers which they say ripped them off. Yes I agree if this info is out there on the website to begin with then the people probably already know their name is on a list or they have bigger problems and just don’t care. I just did not want to post the websites and show you the examples and then be accused of outing. Also 2 of the websites are done by a well known web designer who advertises here and they would have had to be the one to add the info.

A month or so ago I arrived at my neighbourhood Pharmasave. Boldly posted on the front door were two notices, both showing the face of an alleged shoplifters. In past years, I have seen at similar retail stores, cheques that were NSF posted near the till, easy enough for me and anyone else to read the name, address, and number of this individual.

It is well said to remember that if you are not doing anything wrong, you don't wind up on these kinds of lists. Attempts to confuse the issue by implying that that means these agencies will suddenly start exposing the confidential information of clients is ludicrous.

One wonders at these attempts to appear so concerned about how others behaviour, don't seem to check their own. I have heard of several incidents where board members refused to allow an sp to completely change her handle, where other sps had their handles changed and further revealing exposure, where even more were falsely accused of wrongdoing and one member trying to force an sp to show him her identification. Is this the sort of "concern" athaire is referring to when he asks if sps info is also posted?

Between the legs of a HOT SP!!
Not sure if I am a bit thick or if this is a reasonable question, but how would the MP get a clients real name? What city is this taking place in? Any MP that I have been in, I have never had to show any ID or anything really. They ask my name, but I could give any name, they would have no idea.

Maybe I have missed the point of this thread, but seems like an unlikely scenario as how would the MP get your real name?

I guess part of me wants to say wake the fuck up people. These are sites right here among us and no one else has noticed? I am not going to start discrediting escort agencies but some are highly reviewed.

The web designer should know better too. They get paid to put the owners content on the site but one should stop and have the ability to think what they are adding is wrong. It hasn’t seemed to reflect on their business though.

We can sit back and say well I am not doing anything wrong so my name will never be up there but this posting real names is becoming more of a common practice all the time and in another 1 or 2 years will it be a common process for all to do? Then you might have to start worrying. Especially with all the lies and drama this industry holds.

I am sure to most experienced members I am stating the obvious, so please don't take me posturing as an expert here.

Most experienced indy girls, and I would expect all agencies rely on shared "bad date" lists. These are usually private web pages not generally accessible by the public and require registration and some proof the user is a working girl although I bet somewhat informal.

These are designed to protect them from bad experiences, weirdos, and rip off's etc. much like our neighborhood watch threads but without as much descriptive stories and discussions.

I have seen a few public ones, but they are usually outside of the norm and not updated for some time.

Most guys do not have to worry about this as they would not end up such a list unless they did something stupid as per many of the posts above. Any of us of course run the risk of a misunderstanding or an unintentional conflict which may cause a girl to "register" them as a bad date, effectively getting them blacklisted. I am sure this has happened before. It goes both ways I guess. The only difference is that while some girls can get slandered in the message forums, it is (usually) just their working name and will affect their income, whereas bad dates (real or alleged) likely have real names and phone numbers and if outed could cause divorces and career changes. These lists are obviously not completely secure, governed, or used by a unanimously stable group. Many may not like this risk, but in the case of security these girls have to organize this information. Mind your manners gents to avoid ending up on such a list :)

From a legal standpoint, things like that could get the agency in trouble, because if they don't have proof that what they say is true, it could be considered libel. It could also violate Canadian privacy legislation, which all businesses operating in Canada are required to adhere to.

From my perspective, I don't have a problem with information like that (basically bad date info and the like) being shared between people it could concern within the industry. There should be a black list to keep ladies safe. There are risks involved in a black list, sure, but chances are you won't have to face those risks unless you do something badly wrong (I know, the possibility of a spiteful SP putting your info on a black list always exists even if you haven't done anything wrong, but frankly it's unlikely), and the benefits to the ladies' safety outweigh the risks. Putting it out in public like that, though? Yeah, that's not OK in my book.

Whether I agree with adding personal info to website or not the fact remains it is being done.

I found another site today so that makes 4 now. All pro posted the name, address, email, plates and height of a man, then some info about another. Curves of Brazil have only 2 names and no other info. After inquiring with the owner she stated the driver left owing her $50 and never came back. http://www.curvesofbrazil.com/kamloops_escorts.html#girls

As for having one site to report bad dates or a ladies lounge most of the ladies do not get along which makes this a difficult process.
