Are these really necessary on the internet? Will it actually keep those under 18 from clicking the ENTER button? Or does it just cover your ass in the event of a complaint?

I ask because my webdesigner didn't do one for me and I wonder why I'm the only one. Isn't the internet kinda unpoliced right now, except for child pornography and snuff films, that is? I will make this a poll cuz it's not that exciting to warrant comments.

Maybe he didn't do one because my photos are clothed and it's only necessary for nudity, but if that was the case, pop-up porn windows would be in big do-do wouldn't they?

I entered my no as is my understanding, but I really need some answers here people!! Thanks.

Let's put this way... There are tons of whack/crazy people in this cyber world that *love* to argue on this issue.
In my opinion... Just put one for people(that has too much free time to argue on this).

Every once in a while someone may come (cum?) on your web site in error and it is good to give them a chance to decline to enter.

You should have the right to put whatever you want on your site, becuase nobody is forced to look if they find it offensive.

I think it is good edicate to give the visitor one last chance to turn around before they enter the site.

Regardless of age limit - I think the disclaimers are also meant to clear things up about the site being a sps private site, thus you're not comminicating in a public place for the purpose....yadda yadda yadda.

I personally find this every bit as reasonable as a sw wearing a sign saying "I'm Not in a Public Place", but if it actually does have merit legally you might want to create one. I'm a firm believer in covering one's ass....most especially if doing so is as simple as a few words on a website.

By offensive content do you mean nudity, because I don't have any on my site. And they have to click on RATES to even see what I offer. Therefore could I cover my ass by saying the homepage is not lewd and you have to click off it to find out there is, shall we say, "sensitive information" on there? Just wondering...

Travelguy, very good point of the public place thing, that's what I need to consider I guess.

I'm with Pandora, cover your ass. It may not be legally neccessary but it allows you to take the moral highroad in court if anyone's suburban 15 year old rapes the cat after looking at your site and his mum goes apeshit on you.
