Weapon of choice in a zombie apocalypse

Best to go with something that can inflict blunt force trama, some sort of mace, morning stars...an axe, aluminum bat, shovel...got to smash those heads, kill the brain. Axe handles, whatever...and some sort of armour, helmet, etc. Ammo would run out fast, guns would become impractical after, and hand weapons, other projectile such as crossbows, slingshots would too. Back to the days of hack and smash.

yeah, morning stars - i like the sound of that... and like an earlier poster said, a halberd for distance work. i've read that a halberd in the hands of a trained user is a SERIOUS piece of hardware!

A professional Russian with two AA12 fully automatic 12 gauge shotguns

I seriously like that AA12.....it is the Kalishnikov of shotguns.....drop it in the mud/water or whatever and it will still fire.....even in the hands of a child...unbelievable recoil compensator in that thing......50 cops armed with 2 of those and with a rubber bullet load would have stopped the stanley cup riot real fast.....what a totally awesome weapon of zombie destruction.

I'd love to barbeque em with a kick ass Flamethrower!

Whilst the flame thrower is truly badass and totally nasty.....the downfall is the air/fuel mixture.....both in how to make it and how to load it into the flamethrower....I could not do this......whilst it would be totally wicked against a horde of zombies during a last stand of say the homebase...overall it would be impractical.

And now I am not watching dawn of the dead....have not even watched an episode yet....though I did see Shaun of the dead some time back and I thought it was great.

Zombies don't know how to use weapons .. Why do i say that ? well how do you know you aren't going to be one of the zombies ?

It seem in most of these zombie movies the living are stupider then the brain dead .

In stead of trying to win a losing battle .. If you can just get away some where .. in the mountains up in the air in a airship .. with out any zombies on board .. of course there may be some other zombified animals out there also , Cow come to mind .. and there were birds in Resident Evil 4

It is not some place i want to be when zombies attack .

To protect myself when I go out in the wilderness, I wear a bell on my leg to alert any wild animals that I am approaching so thay can avoid me. I also carry a whistle and if I absolutely have to defend my self I use bear spray which can cover a very large area. And of course there you can run away from the danger.

yes, that is a good technique - i think it was first used by groups known as 'morris men' to protect themselves from grizzly bear attacks in england! i mean you've never heard of morris men being attacked by grizzly bears, right? you see... it works... and i expect it would work against zombies as well :thumb:

A bell?.....the wilderness?....a whistle?....bear spray?.......did you even comprehend what this thread was about before you replied to it.....I am thinking you would be quite safe during a zombie apocalypse as your brain would be such a woefully pathetic snack that the zombies would ignore you.

Making noise is absolutely the worst thing you can do in a zombie apocalypse!!!! A cross bow is best, because you don't have to worry about ammo, and its quiet.

Yeah I covered the ol "boomstick" in the original weapon choice of the poll.....a rifled slug semi-auto beaths the hell out of a double barreled sawn-off shotgun....12 gauge for both.....the ultimate shotgun is thr Russian AA12...and I will take that as gospel.....20 rounds of fully automatic 12 gauge fury with no recoil that can fire after being submersed in water....that is the ultimate zombie killer.
