Terribly sad story. It's amazing how we can rationalize our choices in life. Don't have a horse in the race, but if your good client's wives died years ago and they haven't had sex for years, what does that say about your bad clients.
I like what Einstein said, "there is nothing so absurd a philosopher hasn't said it". Ergo, there is nothing so absurd in the commercial sex industry that a buyer or seller in the industry hasn't tried to justify it.

I bet the federal Government never expected to hear that student debt is a reason some girls choose to enter the sex trade.....The book worm politicians writing legislation in this country have no practical experience to even remotely qualify them to draft effective bills....... Priceless!
(in reference to "gross" vs "scary") ... and for those of us ladies who have experienced a "bad act", bounced back proudly, and continued on with our path - it is still a personal choice to do this work/maintain this lifestyle and expect we will be treated unlike how a victim would be - exploited and at a disadvantage.

I'm going to add my voice of affirmation to the article, Cameron. Well done.
Although there certainly are some 'victims' in the industry, it is important to hear the voices of all the women who are NOT victims and are providing this service very much as a form of conscious choice. This message needs to be repeated over and over in public, as currently many think you are deluded and don't know what you are saying/doing, therefore don't have the right to have your voice heard in this debate (as was clear in the hearings).

Thank you to all of the positive feedback. It feels a bit weird to know how widespread the article is. Hopefully it gives a more honest perspective of the "glamorous" life in the business... I would like to just point out that the statements used were excerpts from a 45-minute dialogue. I'm very much aware that not every client I see is a widower. It's impossible to paint a true picture of SP or client because everyone is incredibly unique in their lifestyle, career, family life, extracurricular, openness to the business etc etc, and I think Sarah just quoted one tiny piece of what I was getting at.
Anyway, thanks everyone. I'm hoping to do a lot more work with Peers as well, because as much as I haven't mentioned it here, I feel really strongly about B-C36 and the fate of our rights. It doesn't sit well with me at all.
Celine did an outstanding job as well! Does she have a handle here? I really know nothing about her...
