First hand knowledge,

the stripper clause was an "entertainer" clause and really was more artistic.

It is not immigration into the country - it is a work authorization visa - that is the difference that must be made clear.

I had dated a few S. American strippers while they were here and also while working abroad. Each time, overseas they would need to re-apply for visas at a Canadian Embasssy.

Unfortunately, (or maybe it was for the better) one of my friends was turned down in the Seattle office 'cause she fibbed about being denied a visa in London... so they do not accept all!.

But - there was a need at the time, the window was open and of course, with the corruption in some of the Eastern/ former USSR states - it is possible that the organized or coherced type of work is being conducted. There was a story on CBC about EE girls being sold and kidnapped to work in prostitution - a far cry from strippers but the method was the same.

As for qualifications for the work visas - if you could dance, you were a professional artist.........
