Is anyone willing to explain what's happening in Vegas at the end of August for those of us who are not among the informed?

About 115 degrees. You are free to translate that into Canadianspeak. Too hot, but I guess Bagdad is worse for the lucky few.
Too hot for man or beast. I would wait until it cools down a bit, there's never a lack of whores or johns there to make you brave it in the summer.
OK...I'm going at the beginning of August because:
a. I've got some free time then and
b. it's a comparatively fun and cheap destination
I KNOW it's hotter than a witch's tit...don't get me started
In answer to a couple of posts up re stuff going on in town, I didn't plan my trip around any event.
Apparently, there was a "Lifestyles" (ie, swingers) convention at the end of August in '07, but my savvy internet search didn't come up with anything this year.
There is a Star Trek convention a week into August, right after I'm gone. (Actually, the Star Trek experience at the Hilton is slated to close forever Sept 1, so I'll be glad to catch that)
Oh yeah, there is a black nurses convention the first week of august, with 1500 slated to attend Aug 1-11 at Mandalay Bay (for all you black and/or nurses fetishists )
As well, there is an American Probabation and Parole convention (handcuffs, anyone??)
I guess I'm just fishing to see if anybody of common interest (ie perbites/perbettes) will be there at the same time.

And Reno will always be a lot cooler. And LakeTahoe is very close.
So is Interstate 50, east of Carson City. A very short drive and you will find about 4 brothels. Lot cheaper there than those that are (not) close to Vegas.
