Yeah, but they used to have a lot more - like the one at Lonsdale Quay. Starbucks and Blenz seem to be replacing all of their locations or have better locations. That is too bad because Starbucks and Blenz are the only coffee shops easy to find almost anywhere in the city.

That's what I'm getting at. In the rest of Canada, Second Cup is virtually on every block. Of course, once Starfucks virtually shut them out of BC, they expanded like wildfire.

Best times to be had there are when the World Cup is on...they open at 4:00am if need be to serve hard-core soccer fans...best atmosphere to see a game: no booze, but lots of silliness and good antics.

Regulary pretty neat experience, too...ask for a Caffe Corretto (sp??...sorry, I'm a dumb white guy)...this is like an Irish Coffee, but the wops use grappa instead of whiskey...you won't find the art history majors serving that shit at Buttfucks, er, Starbucks.

new recommendation...

Just to keep romanzamia guessing...i'll be the new frequent customer at Lupo Cafe on georgia just west of burrard...had a fantastic cappuccino there this morning and a lovely bocconcini salad with the sweetest balsamic while i reclined in a comfy banquette and chatted with the even sweeter sydney of saskatoon.

One of the barista boys even gave me a personal microfoam demonstration this morning and patiently sat beside me as i figured out how to get online with their wireless provider...i luv being a girl.

Check out Cafe Artigiano

It's on Pender and thurlow (I think there's one accross from the Law courts as well ). They make a mean java, and the Latte art is pretty cool.
