Today`s Vancouver Province newspaper has an editorial by Susan Martinuk titled "New prostitution laws should target the johns". The inset quote says:

If we believe that sex trafficking can/should be regulated like any other business, and we can control the industry with licensed brothels, then we will be creating a society where women... are just another commodity for sale.
Vancouver Province blog (with same text): http://blogs.theprovince.com/2014/03/25/susan-martinuk-new-prostitution-laws-should-target-the-johns/

It is the same dumb arguments that equate sex trafficking with prostitution etc.

I suggest that we send responses to the editorial and that someone like susi (or another advocate for SPs/"johns") should request the ability to write a similar length editorial.

Province blog comment by Julie Grant of Toronto.

Here is a comment on the blog (based on the content, apparently written by an SP).

This is not about slavery or a free for all. If the sex was free you wouldn't have a a problem with it. This is about ignorance and the damage it does to sex workers. The courts have ALL found that our right to security was jeapardized by 3 provisions of the law. They are right. Laws are there to protect us from both predators and the tyranny of the majority. This is about sex workers' safety. Selling sexual services for money was not illegal. Doing it safely was. Educate yourselves. So now your just against our safety.Trafficking is illegal, so is exploitation and underage. Please spare us from you feigning concern at our expense. We don't need a new law. We just need to be able to do our jobs in peace and deal with problems if we encounter them. Consult us.

There is only one other comment --- and it is the "What about the children?!!!" type. "Would you want your daughters....?"

The editorial is what you would expect from The Province; the usual "Our society will be ruined if we continue to allow prostitution to exist." All women involved are victims. (Men are only abusers or pimps, so male sex workers are not mentioned at all).

Fred Zed`s post below is a much more open-minded media presentation. The videos on the link are mostly positive.
