Also one of the officers that came in later after the shoot had occured took a cell phone from someone who was recording it and deleted the video footage. One of the cheifs got questioned about that "was it apporpreiate to delete the video footage that was caught on camera" and he replied "it was inapporpreiate for him to delete the evidence, yes. We will look into it" somewhere along those lines. Cocksuckers always say they will look into it and never do.

So my question is: Was it right for the officers to shoot the guy? If not what would YOU have done if you were the officer?

I envy those that choose that career path. It's gotta be tough dealing with all the scrutiny. It doesn't seem fair sometimes, ok, yes we have to watch for abuse of power but at the end of the day, you crazies that are putting these guys in tough situations, stop it! The police are there because of you so you're probably doing something stupid and criminal, just give up!

If you don't like the RCMP, then fine. You are entitled to your opinion. But at least get your facts straight. The RCMP had nothing to do with this incident. It was the VPD, so if you are going to bash, check your facts.
I don't agree some of the RCMP or VPD antics lately, but it is an extremely tough job and most of them deserve our respect.

I'll be dead honest with you, yes I do plan on choosing that as a career. It is soo interesting.

Where I live right now, it is a dead town. Safe but must be boring for the officers. Might give a ticket for speeding or something. No action.

If I get accepted, Vancouver would be the number one city on my list. (They make you fill out a list and you have to choose thirty citys/towns that you would like to go to). My cousin just got accepted in the RCMP and they sent him to Pentiction. I got to see what training was like in Regina... since they gave everyone a DVD copy of the recording and stuff.

Well, at least you got the "cocksuckers" part right since it was female officers that did the shooting, unless of course they were dykes. This happened in Vancouver, involving the VPD. The RCMP had nothing to do with it. If you feel you have to piss all over the cops whenever something happens, at least know where you are aiming.

Think again. When you go through the interview process, you will get asked about this kind of activity, and you will be hooked up to a polygraph when they ask.

VPD and other local forces use the same process, so good luck.

Is it not the same as using drugs? I was at a career job thing in Vancouver last year and they told us that “if you can’t go a day without smoking a joint then this isn’t the career for you.” “We need to see that you are clean for at least two years.”… + I got a while before I even write my test (school and still need life experience (as they would say)) and he said that the number one reason why people fail the test is because if they have any tickets in their driving records. I got nothing in my name (driving and criminal) and plan to keep it like that.
My cousin told me that all they want to see is that you are honest with them. And if something comes up just tell them what happened. He was in the same situation (not sure what it was) but he just told them the story and went on.

Most are municipal: New West pd, Vancouver pd, etc. You could apply to specific city police depts as well after you go thru what you are already working on. Usually in the RCMP I think most people go to smaller towns until they get experience.

Yep, and keep in mind "small town" might just be Whistler or Gibsons, or something really close by to Vancouver anyway lol.

No, you're right about that. But what you have to understand is that getting the job is a competition against thousands of other applicants who have never seen a hooker or smoked a joint. They therefore rank higher than you in the competition. If they all saw hookers and smoked a joint every day of their lives, well they'd have to lower their hiring standards. They look at your assets and your liabilities and weigh them out and then compare them with everyone else's.

The best thing to do is be honest and if something like this comes up, explain to them how you got away from it and what you learned. Make sure that you explain that you got something positive out of it. And that would be that.

Lethal mistakes are things like lying on your application about anything and a bad driving record. Too many speeding tickets or an excessive speeding conviction will get you disqualified from the competition. Apparantly, it's a bad reflection of your personality.
