This is the one day of the year that I feel blue. I am just wondering whether others feel the same way as I do? And whether there is an actual remedy for this. Last year I visited a Service Provider and although she was a wonderful girl, the visit left me feeling more hollow than ever. So I am wondering whether anyone knows if there is a real distraction from wanting to feel loved and give love?

Yes I am totally avoiding Facebook too. I recall the nonsense last year, so trying not to duplicate the same downward spiral.

ya being 30yrs old I've never cared about a long term commitment as I used to make easy money and had plenty of friends with benefits. Life to a drastic change for the worse years ago and just finally picking up the pieces. I just need to get out more, this weekend no thanks. Although hanging out at the cinema whn to "50 shades of Grey" movie finishes could have some potential

Flowers - they are not so much to make your gf happy as it is to feed her ego. Women just love getting flowers sent to work because it makes a statement that she's got a guy who "loves" her. Nothing gives her a big ego boost like a bouquet being paraded from the receptionist to her office/cubicle for all to see. Here's the reality- This year, because Feb 14 is a Saturday, flower vendors are in a slump because women can't get flowers sent to the office. And really, how much effort does it take for a dude to pick up the phone and give a credit card number and an address to send it to. If you wanna make a girl feel special...cook her dinner run a bath then fuck her brains out.

Lol my ex sent me an un-valentine's card. Bahahaha
And you DIDN'T take a pic and post it?

Valentines day is just another day for me. Same as Christmas etc. The whole social pressure to be in a relationship is crap and it has an effect on some people who aren't in one. I'm divorced without any attachments and it works for me. I can go where and when I want and spend my money any way I choose (except for that whole inconvenient income tax thing).
PierreCoeur, I'm sorry that you're going through a rough time, I know what it's like. I really can't suggest anything to prevent this from happening in the future, but if I were you I'd take the day off and do something for yourself. Many, many years ago I bought a dozen roses and walked through a mall and handed them out to all the little old ladies I saw. Made their day and I felt great afterward.

Walmart had dozens of roses for $9.96 a couple days ago... I recall the 'normal' prices for flowers went Waaaaay up (like $40/doz) around valentines!
So buy a dozen and give'm out to women who obviously don't have a valentine!

My Ex sent me a card too and not an un-valentines day card. Now I just feel like a jerk for not having sent her one. Then this morning I get a text from a girl I was seeing a few months back who moved to Denver telling me that a prior text sent earlier this week about going out on a date with someone today was just her trying to get a reaction out of me. The reaction was, the flowers I had intended to send her today never got ordered because I didn't want to mess up her date. So if someone has written a book on the understanding the opposite sex especially on Valentine's Day - I would love to read it. Because I am missing something here in relationships

they did... it's called, 'women are from venus, men are from mars'

now if you can imagine a venutian and a martian trying to communicate with each other - well, maybe you're starting to understand? :D
