Using PERB as a weapon will not be tolerated

While Perbatory is going to stay gone, occasionally a case presents itself where a full airing of the facts will serve to both improve the board as well as demonstrate the commitment we have to making this a fun and friendly place.

From time to time, there are posts here and elsewhere that allude to clients offering to write positive reviews in return for discounts or free sessions or write negative reviews if they are rejected. Others still offer to sell reviews for cash. In other cases, the extortion revolves around loosening restrictions. PERB stands with any/every reputable board in saying this is completely forbidden with our members and if it's proven, you are going to be banned permanently with no chance for reprieve.

All of this preamble brings me to the subject of this note. CommanderKeen as he calls himself here has been banned for life from PERB and will never be allowed to return. He's threatened and attempted extortion with several providers in Victoria, and we have both emails and texts that demonstrate this. There is no room for error, and this proof we have is well beyond the "no shadow of a doubt territory". I am not going to detail all of it, quite honestly I don't want to give trolls any further info about what they could do to cover their tracks.

Suffice to say, this guy is the lowest form of client and we are making an example of him. Discussion of the topic is going to be allowed, but name calling and ranting will not. Yes. This guy started out on PERB acting relatively inoffensively, if rather off-the-wall, and initially drew some members into interacting with him in the Victoria review section. His posting behaviour went downhill pretty quickly though, over the space of a few weeks, as I recall. There were even posts on CL, naming him, and PERB, and calling out his behaviour. It does reflect poorly on all of us. We don't need, and the large majority of us don't deserve, that kind of attention.

A few years ago, there was a person making appointments outside of this board, and early in his appointment, was asking for better, or enhanced service.....claiming to be myself.
He offered a good review here in return for that service. He offered to still pay, just no "extra" fees.
Thankfully, to my knowledge he only tried it a few times, and one of the young ladies, who knew me, and a little about me, asked some key questions, and was onto him , and his act within minutes......having spoke to me a few hours ago about something, and knowing I was home ,she also realized it would be impossible for me to drive the five hours, to her location.
He also didn't bring up the conversation we had just had via email, that very morning.
Being a lady of experience, and having some common sense, she contacted me right away, and I posted a new thread here, which was met with support for the most part, but some saw it as threatening.
Having said that.....the board let it stand unedited to this day.....with not even a friendly warning, which I respect.
The board here realized I had various relationships ,and different levels of trust with some Providers here, and some I had never met, and didn't know what I looked like....I am thankful the impersonation didn't escalate into anything dangerous, using my reputation......after my aggressive thread, and to my knowledge, it never happened again.
In my opinion, it was handled very well by Perb, but I did vanish from here for awhile, and watched from a hilltop, to try and locate my enemy, and find his trail.....which never materialized.

For the record, and I'm sure this opinion is shared here by many, other than just myself....Comanderkeen made my hair stand on end, and my knee jerk reaction when he was around , made me want too look over my shoulder.

Unfortunately, many banned members do try this. When we can determine that the person is in fact a former banned member, they are banned again and all posts are removed, it's attention these guys seek, and we do our best to deprive them of that. One notorious guy has tried over 100 times to come back, I think mostly as a game at this point, but posting style or other means catch him out and he's banned again. It's not a perfect system, but we work with what we have.

I like how this type of issue is put up in the Lounge for all to see. Calling them out for what they are taking advantage of the power of a negative or positive review to receive some personal benefit is a misogynistic creepy behaviour.

Outing these extortionists is an excellent idea and I hope all the ladies are vigilant and never book an appointment with this type of client.

Sharing their intel with one another will help others.

Banning this user and his IP permanently from this forum and sharing his personal information privately amongst SPs is a stern and justified punishment. Publishing his personal information is a bad idea and crosses the line of ethical behaviour, and should not be encouraged by board members. Doxxing should not be done to our board members, even if they're disreputable and in bad standing.

Except d0xing a person is not vigilantism. It's simply the collection of information which is used to identify someone. It's the people that USE the d0x to attack and intimidate people that are the vigilantes. Is a private investigator a vigilante?

The claim "he is gone" is pretty misinformed? Let's be real. With the proliferation of cheap & free VPN's, Tor, and a million free email providers no moderator is able to completely control who signs up to a forum.

I can't help but note the correlation between gamer names & serial SP harassers of late. Perhaps it's tied into #gamergate when millions of male gamers took offense to Zoe Quinn, a female gaming coder & then threatened to gang rape her. Law & Order did an episode on the ugliness of it. I keep seeing this pattern. In fact I see it all over the internet. That might not seem like much but if I was a moderator I'd take note. And to be blunt, I'm good at write printing. It was easy to see Keen was going to become a problem. A persons words are as loud as bombs. Writing style says a great deal about a person. It's just a matter of noticing what you see (or read).

I'm of the opinion that Commanderkreep is just capable of tying his own shoes....never mind applying vpn's or TOR to hide his true identity.
I do agree, his writing style, and general way he presented himself, I found strange, and I felt too....he was going to become a problem.
I felt like he had predatory traits...like a Wolf who thinks he's one step ahead of you, while you push him into a valley that has a trap in the end.
