Would just need it to surf once in a while and to do out of office work which is just take offs/estimates

Does it have a 14.1" TFT Screen as opposed to a smaller Dual Scan Screen. Dual Scan screens suck.

How much RAM does it have? You should look at 256 MB as a minimum with XP. Laptop memory is not cheap compared to PC memory.

Does it have a modem or network card as well? You need one or the other to surf the web.

Ya might be better off re-installing Windows 2000 on it.
I believe Windows XP is more resource intensive.

Personally I hate laptops cuz they're underpowered and battery life isn't that great. Get a wireless adapter for it to make it worth your while.
