Time will tell, but my crystal ball says Canada’s taxes will skyrocket, or free stuff will disappear, maybe both! I am a duel citizen, I know about Canada. Public education in the US is a mess, but an art degree is worthless. The United States is by far the largest consumption and spending market in the world, Canada is not even ranked. If Canada fulfills its commitment to contribute 2% of the GDP to NATO, that alone will be a major hit to the economy. I love the Canadian pride depicted on this platform, but money talks and bullshit walks. For many reasons, Canada needs the US, but America can survive without Canada. Canada has 41 million people, the US has 350 million. The GDP of Canada is 2 trillion, the GDP of the US is 29 trillion. Evidently you failed math and a person can have 12 years of post secondary education and not grasp reality. Remember Mr education, Justin flew to Florida and Trump humiliated him in front of the world. Justin could be governor, you had to laugh. Trudeau still has shit on his tongue from Trumps ass. Do you even know the definition of a dictator? Look it up and tell everyone why Trump fits the definition?? After all, you are educated in Canada. However the way you lump Americans in the same category, paints a picture of stupidity. It would be like me saying all Canadians smoke dope, are fat, dumb and lazy. Just pay for your own stuff!
You're likely correct that Trump's tariff plan will hurt Canada's economy... but it will also hurt USA's so much for Trump lowering grocery prices right?
Guess you don't know much about Canadian education. Visual and Performing Arts including Communication Technologies degrees in Canada 2022 were a total of 3% of post secondary graduates fields of study. Your comment is uneducated and irrelevant
You're right about the American economy, but keep in mind we're talking about economies of scale. Smaller economies factored as a percentage are simply scaled to that economy. Absolutely changing where we put our resources will affect the economy, but why are you interested in hurting Canada? Americans should be trying to help their trading partners not hurt them... Oh right MAGA. Morons against good advice. Try helping others and not being a bully.
Not sure how implying that I don't understand math helps your argument, or saying that I'm uneducated? Bullying others by saying demeaning things and implying that our Prime Minister is somehow less than Trump because he's trying to reason with Trump and use logic to sway him? Ignorant. Trump is a bully, narcissist and pathological liar. I don't even like Trudeau and I'd pick him as a leader over Trump any day. I Didn't have to laugh. Like many Canadians I found Trump's comments offensive.
Trump is not a dictator yet.. but he's showing signs that he would be more than happy to go down that path. For everyone's sake I hope that doesn't happen.
I don't lump all Americans into the same category "Many Americans" does not mean "All Americans"
You keep saying "Just pay for your own stuff" like it's some great revelation. the USA isn't paying for Canada's "stuff". USA is a capitalistic society, there are numerous examples of the USA strong-arming and exploiting other countries.
Have a lovely weekend.
Maybe go back down to the USA and live in the great home with all the cars and toys that you have, in a country where a convicted felon is soon to be the President.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Because I dont own a 10,000 sq ft home in Newport Beach, you gotta be kidding! I will not convince you otherwise and list my assets, but I will tell you that I have never been married, no kids, but own two Malinois. I actually feel like Im swimming in my primary residence, which sits on 12 acres on top of a hill. The number of employees do not dictate wealth, people are expensive and when I indicated ownership, I did not mention I have three partners. One of the companies entered an ESOP today. I am sure the term is foreign, but maybe google can help. Somebody on this platform articulated Canadians are well educated, you must be from Mississippi.
You read too many Hollywood tabloids!
My only motivation to write was to offer a different perspective, a Trump supporter perspective, an American perspective, but now some people that can’t handle the truth, insult. It must be because Canadians are so educated, inclusive and accepting. I pay HR to handle employees, I forgot how narrow minded and stupid many people are!

Look up the definition of analogy. I will break it down for you Mr Blaster. My point was, if a person thinks Vancouver is a beautiful city, they must like ugly women….NOT ugly women live in Vancouver……..but Vancouver is an ugly city. WOW! Change your handle to helmet head😳.
Regardless, there has been much mud slinging about the bipartisan support for the current budgetary negotiations. A brief look at history will show a half intelligent individual what fake news calls bipartisan. A few months ago it was reported a bipartisan deal was reached on immigration. It was never reported that only a few republicans, China Mitch being one, which made it bipartisan, agreed to allow 5000 aliens into the US per day….1.8 million per year. Obviously the vast majority of American citizens did not approve, Mitch stepped down, and in a month deportations will begin. The bipartisan support for the CR contained a ton of fat (pork) in it, which had nothing to do with keeping the government open. Congressional pay raises, Congress not having to use Obamacare and paying for a privately owned bridge, just to name three. Trump and most citizens do not believe the fat should be included, so it was shot down. The US political system is a complete mess, the DOJ is corrupt and many politicians like Pelosi break the law, via insider trading. If it is not rectified, it will get worse! That is the reason Trump appealed to millions of voters. He is an outsider and it appears he learned from his last term by selecting other outsiders, instead of the normal politicians, for his Cabinet. Most Democrats and Republicans alike, care about themselves and not about their constituents. I want tax reductions, I don’t want to support illegals and people that don’t want to work. I do not want to supplement NATO if other countries do not pay 2% of their GDP. I do not want to buy oil from Canada and OPEC, because when we have our own. I think Ukraine is massively corrupt and do not care if Putin concours it. I don’t not want to drive an EV. I do not want to supplement other nations with my tax dollars. I want to bring manufacturing jobs back to America.
IMO, Trump is the only chance to right a sinking ship.
Try to imagine how little I care

Evidently, your education is in art, not economics. I don’t want to hurt Canada, I just want to stop supplementing Canada’s way of life, as I want to do with other countries. Bullying , demeaning, obviously you haven’t read what some of your countrymen have written. I hope Trudeau makes you happy. Dictator, narcissist, convicted felon, pathological liar….you forgot Hitler. You simply repeat everything Harris professed, look what happened to her. Read, learn and attempt to think outside of your indoctrination. BTW, Gentleman Jack is absolutely horrible!

Keep in mind that Canadians are passive aggressive. We are nice and accommodating as much or more than most nations but we will roar or go on the tit for tat mode when a past or future president is dismissive or insulting. Online Canadians are not as nice as what you encounter one on one in public.

You took offense about what we say about trump and we took offense about what you said about Canada and us in general. Everybody is judgemental at different levels depending on our life experience and mood of the moment.

Nobody subsidize nobody in world trade . Offer and demand is the name of the game ; what can skew the market is a or many multinationals that will manage to change the rules of the game behind the scene for their advantage...which is what Canadian have had to experience every once in a while from US based corporations over the decades . Nonetheless we are more than happy to let things be left alone for the good of the economy....but we sometimes keep a grudge internally that resurface in our comments.

Keep in mind that this is a Canadian website filled by Canadians so to have ideological support it would be preferable to stick to your American websites to have a more balanced Republican vs Democrat views . Canadian have a overwhelming negative view of trump as you are experiencing...in Alberta it is slightly better but it is still a minority.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the more you dig the more we will dig .

Reminder free speech on a private website doesn't apply . Rules are more stringent than the free speech we enjoy on the street. Its the reason why there were hints that insults might get to enjoy a time out or ban .

I get everything you articulated! However, I disagree about your world trade opinion. Be that as it may, many trade deals are memorized for political purposes, scratch my back, I will scratch yours, so to speak. However, if Trump keeps his promise, it will be, screw you, Americans will scratch their own back. If the stars line up, either other nations will learn to pay their way, or havoc will ensue. Think about this, are there any other countries that gave Ukraine even close to the amount American taxpayers provided? If, and I hope when, Trump cuts off Ukraine, will other countries step up to the plate and fill the void? The world, like a heroin addict, is addicted. Instead of dope, it is American money. I have been a member of this platform for a long time and rarely opened my big mouth. During that time, I have read comments, not very nice comments, about Americans and/or Trump. Based on my financial background, I knew two facts. The people that authored the comments are uneducated, or do not realize the American taxpayer subsidies their way of life. Then Biden came along and paid big bucks to buy Canadian oil, when America had its own. I assume he wanted to get votes from the climate nuts. This reinforced the thought, America needs Canada for energy. Everyone that has basic knowledge of oil markets, know that is not true. Now comes Trump with an American first attitude and the largest oil reserve in the world. All of the orange man, felon, dictator, Hitler comments were invalidated. Nobody thought he would win, but he did, in a landslide! Yes, I got tired of the Canadians whom Americans subsidize, talking shit, but because I am a business man, I like to make money. I am what is called a forward thinker. If I know something is about to occur, I want to invest before it happens. Think of an Apple IPO. Although I did buy a Rolex for my mom in Calgary today, I also strategically positioned myself to profit when the hammer hits Canada. I strongly suggest you do the same. I don’t care if I get banned. A lot of the higher end women know me. I never shop for sex at Walmart. I’m not want I consider rich, but I am comfortable, I pay people to manage my business, but I am always looking to make more money. The attached is for the nonbelievers…..30% off!

Evidently, your education is in art, not economics. I don’t want to hurt Canada, I just want to stop supplementing Canada’s way of life

neither is yours I'm assuming

Canada's trade surplus is because of one thing, and only one thing

OIL

of which the U.S. has been raping Alberta over for decades, they've been buying it at a discount due to our idiots in Central Canada/Ont/Que then to some extent the delusional pretend environmentalists in BC lately

the U.S. isn't supplementing/subsidizing Canada, it's the other way around, they've been getting our oil cheap for decades, they need it, can't do without it

can't replace it, where do you think they'd get 4-5 million barrels a day?

Iran? Iraq? Venezuela?

sure, they'll get right on that, Donnie the Dunce will make it great again

take oil out of the equation, there is no surplus, the U.S. is on the winning side, both ways

Ok, I will bite. Although I am not an international trade expert, I am very well versed in commodities, securities, liquidity and how the exchanges operate. I will use oil as an example. Canada currently sells a lot of oil to the US. An uneducated person would think, if the US produced its own and stopped purchasing from Canada, it will be easy to find another buyer. Probably, …..but what if the US sold its vast oil supply to other countries, which is what Trump said he will do? That is where supply and demand come into play. If there is a ton of oil on the market, the price will plunge. The US will be saving billions of dollars not buying oil and is now selling the excess, Canada and OPEC must drop their price as well, or everyone will buy American oil. However,
yeah, except... thats not how it works. sorry, buts its the expected simplistic answer. its the Trump answer.

the US is a net exporter of refined oil products. $138B in 2022.

Refined Petroleum in the United States

US oil companies take our unrefined heavy crude, refine it and sell it. and make a killing doing so.

the US produces enough crude oil for domestic consumption.

America Produces Enough Oil to Meet Its Needs, So Why Do We Import Crude?

so US GDP just takes a hit as refineries look for other sources of heavy crude to refine. the US has excess heavy crude refining capacity while the US produces mostly light crude.

and this isn't the way Canadians want it anyways. gas is expensive here because Big Oil have control of our product. so they ensure that there are limited refining possibilities here in Canada to keep gas prices high. we don't control what happens to the oil. we just sell oil leases.

52% of Canadian oil production is owned by US owners.

Report shows 70 percent of Canadian oilsands production is owned by foreign companies and shareholders

so whatever. Trump might be doing us a big favour when it comes to oil. i would love for the US companies to be forced to abandon Canadian oil and the Canadian government nationalize it like Norway.

Norway’s Oil Savings Just Hit $1 Trillion. Alberta Has $17 Billion. What Gives?

and oil is a rather specific item thats much more complex than other commodities because... US and Canadian governments don't actually control how it managed. its managed to ensure maximum profit for oil lease owners... its not managed to maximize tax revenue. in fact, we subsidize it with cold hard cash.

$18.6 billion in support of the fossil fuel and petrochemical industries in 2023

but if you think we, sitting on the second or third largest oil reserve in the world are going to perish if the US stops buying it from us then i have some swamp land in downtown Vancouver that i will sell you.

yeah, our natural resources have mostly paid for us to sit around and have a quality of life index in the top 5 globally and a median net worth above the US population. we've been dishing the US cheap goods for decades. don't want it? maybe you'll be doing us a favour. we'll get off our asses and make even more money with it or mint new trade "partners".

on another note... you don't cite ANYTHING. i guess its just the Fox News real that you consume.
