Like I said previously, I’m a duel citizen and lived in Toronto for ten straight years. During that time, I got in a bad motorcycle collision. I was stabilized, but had to wait 3 months to see an orthopedic surgeon. I was driven 50 miles across the border and received surgery within 48 hours. I also have additional first hand experience with free medical care. Regardless, I don’t know if Trump will fulfill all of his promises, but I do know that since he was elected, gasoline dropped below $3 per gallon for the first time in 3.5 years. One of my neighbors is a big shot at Shell. He said that unless Biden screws up AMWR, gas will be under $2 per gallon by mid 2026. Hopefully with a drop in energy prices, everything will stabilize and not increase in price. I am told, my primary residence is worth well over a million dollars. I just received my property tax for 2025 and it is $3506. The house is in Idaho, a deep red state. I also own a house in California, it is valued at $800k, property tax is $12322. California is a deep blue state. Gasoline in California is over a dollar more per gallon and my income tax rate in Idaho is less than half of what it is in California. It is amazing the differences between two states. All that aside, hopefully Trump will bring Ford and Dodge back to Michigan. I also hope he will do as promised and even out the trade deficit. Not only with Canada, with everyone, except probably China. I also hope he pulls support from Ukraine and either makes NATO countries pay 2%, or America withdrawals. In which, case, NATO will collapse. It is an antiquated idea anyway. Back to taxes. Regardless of the fake news, the last time Trump was President he passed the largest tax cut in history…..for everyone. It’s all the same tax break, poor, rich, it doesn’t matter. He made a fixed amount of everyones income exempt from tax. Americas Social Security is socialism. Thankfully I was not required to contribute, but here are the numbers. My friend earned over $200k and was forced to contribute to SS for 33 years. During that time he contributed between $15k and $22k per year. At 62, his award is $2233 per month. If he put that in an S&P Index fund, he would have close to 3 million dollars. Now back to Canada not living off the American taxpayer. The only reason Canada does not contribute 2% to NATO, your government knows, due to geography, the US will protect them. the trade deficit is another and Ford and Dodge should be American Jobs. Those three things alone are billions of dollars and if Republicans keep all three branches, I hope we will get additional tax cuts. Especially if other countries are forced to support themselves. Trump has two years before the midterms, I will be happy if he keeps 10% of his promises.
Many people around the world have a poor opinion of Americans, simply because the vast majority of them don't have passports, and for those that do, they've only been to Canada and Mexico.. or been to another country as part of a military force. They're ignorant of other cultures standards and etiquette. For it's 1st world status it's simply appalling the huge percentage of Americans that are uneducated and the poor conditions of education in general for the US public system. I guess this explains why Americans can have the blinders on and think only of America, have very little understanding of life outside of the US and a global economy and culture. Canadians are highly educated. We have the highest percentage of post secondary educated citizens of any country in the world, we enjoy traveling and are interested in other cultures and international politics including American. The prevalence of American TV makes it a certainty that we will pick up information on the US whether we're interested or not.
Canada has it's own concerns and issues, but we don't blame other countries for our problems.
Our response to tariffs will be the same as last time. We'll target the businesses and products of the people that support Trump with retaliatory tariffs so that they suffer and put pressure on him to be reasonable. We don't want tariffs... they negatively impact both economies and there's no need for it. The border issues on the Canadian side are a drop in the bucket compared to Mexico. Sure, we can do better, but it's a border, both sides need to cooperate.
If Canada were able to divert our trade to other markets than the US the US would soon find out that they really need us. If we didn't provide fresh water, electricity, lumber and minerals.. the USA would have deficits in vital resources and that great big economy would come to a grinding halt.
Unfortunately we've relied and become dependent on the ease of having a large market on our southern border. We like doing business with the USA, it's convenient, profitable and helps us both... but push too much and we'll find that other markets which may be less convenient, profitable and helpful can be found and then you can watch your gasoline prices skyrocket, the cost to build your houses increase and the water and electricity for your cities jump up in cost.
The USA has very sweetheart deals on Canadian resources because it's to our benefit and yours to have a strong trading relationship. If you want it to be only to your benefit and not ours.. we Will find other markets. We don't need to Make Canada Great Again. We never stopped being great. Neither did the USA really.. Trump is just giving you someone convenient to blame for your problems other than yourselves. Typical tactics right out of the dictator authoritarian handbook.

Time will tell, but my crystal ball says Canada’s taxes will skyrocket, or free stuff will disappear, maybe both! I am a duel citizen, I know about Canada. Public education in the US is a mess, but an art degree is worthless. The United States is by far the largest consumption and spending market in the world, Canada is not even ranked. If Canada fulfills its commitment to contribute 2% of the GDP to NATO, that alone will be a major hit to the economy. I love the Canadian pride depicted on this platform, but money talks and bullshit walks. For many reasons, Canada needs the US, but America can survive without Canada. Canada has 41 million people, the US has 350 million. The GDP of Canada is 2 trillion, the GDP of the US is 29 trillion. Evidently you failed math and a person can have 12 years of post secondary education and not grasp reality. Remember Mr education, Justin flew to Florida and Trump humiliated him in front of the world. Justin could be governor, you had to laugh. Trudeau still has shit on his tongue from Trumps ass. Do you even know the definition of a dictator? Look it up and tell everyone why Trump fits the definition?? After all, you are educated in Canada. However the way you lump Americans in the same category, paints a picture of stupidity. It would be like me saying all Canadians smoke dope, are fat, dumb and lazy. Just pay for your own stuff!

Because he is not the typical lifetime politician, the entire world is afraid of Trump. Most people that get elected to office do not to cause waves and stir the pot, they just go with the program. Trump doesn’t give a shit. That is probably one of the primary reasons he won the election in a landslide. Germany’s auto industry is in a panic as well.. and if the auto industry feels pain, so will all of Germany. It is obvious most American taxpayers are tired of Canada and much of the world feeding off of our taxes. If the situation was reversed, I am positive Canadians would feel the same way. The only country with an economy strong enough to potentially cause pain to Americans is China, but currently China is experiencing a lot of economic hardship and I suspect it will get much worse before it improves. Justin Trudeau and other world leaders flew to Florida to kiss Trump‘s ass, they must have good reason. None of them can stand up to the power of the American economy. Most countries depend on our economy so that they can keep their taxes in check. After January 20, it will be a perfect storm. The only question is if the Republicans can unite and back the Trump agenda. If that occurs, Canada and the rest of the world will experience an economic force for which they are not prepared. Socialism and votes have consequences. Get this, 53% of individuals in the United States do not pay any income tax, 63% collect some type of welfare. That means 37% of taxpayers provide some type of monetary support to 63% of the population. The system is wrought with political entitlements. Now factor in the nations that take advantage of American politicians that are afraid to buck the system. Some say the fat orange man is not smart, MAGA is a cult and Trump will fail. I disagree. He is a billionaire, he was impeached twice, indicted, convicted, sued, shot and kicked Kamala’s ass. Seven republicans voted to impeach Trump for 1/6, only six still hold office, the 7th will not run again. Liz Chaney and Nikki Haily are finished. Trump has the entire world in economic panic. Ukraine and NATO members are terrified of a 78 year old orange man with absolutely nothing to lose. In about four weeks he will be the leader of the free world, why isn’t Trump smart?
again, a load of BS. you've been asked before... but you don't answer.

how is it that Canada, by selling our surplus to the US, is ripping the US off? thats what Trump says. if you can't explain it... then its dumb.

you don't need to spout off all the MAGA religious stuff. just answer the one simple question. Trump can't. so i don't expect you can either.

Assuming your Ayn Randian fairy tale below is true, that you * had * to buy a smaller expensive place to be close to something so you dont have to commute ( but you're also willing to go back a nd forth to Idaho so you can avoid taxes ):

You're simply the victim of what you espouse. Tech bros can easily pay those taxes and by most measures California is a nicer place year round than Idaho for most people. You simply lost the grinding, punishing, no holds barred no quarter rat race you want so bad. You were late to the party by not having established yourself under Regan and those days are gone. You're not special enough no matter how many businesses you say you started. Stop whinging about it move on if thats what you want to do- nobody owes you a cheap tax locale where you can fuck up the environment without concern. If ButtFuck Boise is so appealing then the masses will move, and those that stay will be happier for it as the State gets more blue. They'll say 'goodbye' and somone else will step in with a more valuable company if you pull up stakes, boohoo.

I remain doubtful as to the veracity of the story you've woven however. The above was just the logical extention of the oligarchical supporting thinking put forward.

Only idiots rely on Google!!
The following is how California property taxes are assessed.
1.25% of the purchase price. One million dollars is $12,250
The tax will increase one half of one percent per year.
Within the first six months of purchase, a one time 1% supplemental tax is due $10,000
Every county also charges additional property taxes on an annual basis. I think there are 52 counties in California
My $800k home, which is 1600 sq ft and built in 1987 cost over $12,000 in taxes that increase yearly.
My new 3100 sq ft home with a 12 car garage in Idaho cost me less than $4k in tax. It decreased from 4300 last year.

In California my state income tax rate is 11.8%
in Idaho my state income tax rate is 6% and I actually have more taxable income in Idaho than California.
The county in California where my house is located charges an 8.75% sales tax
The state of Idaho Charges 6%
I own several vehicles, but I will use two as an example. I keep a 2019 Ford Raptor at my California house. The annual registration costs $1176.
I have a 2023 Ford Raptor in Idaho. The registration costs $220 for two years.
I have AAA insurance on both vehicles. The 2019 costs $1326 every six months. The 2023 costs $836 per year.
Now Einstein research gasoline tax in California!
Afterward research the current budget deficit in California.
The only reason i maintain a home in the people’s republic of California is because of a business I own in California. Otherwise I would be required to pay an additional non resident tax!

Now Google how to get an education

i did want to give Motorman the benefit of the doubt... but i too find parts of the story a little dubious. its the light real estate holdings for someone who has 1000 employees. i'm sure there is a rational explanation. business partners. a basement full of gold bars. the private jet for commuting.

hats off to anyone with such a detailed grasp of social security payments though. as i don't even think about it.

Ha, Travel is overrated so much. You can never not take on the plane the biggest PITA baggage you own which is yourself. I'm an American and I've don't think I will ever travel far for the rest of my life even if I could do it like a multi millionaire. I am grateful for those that want to grab that overrated fruit, so many people lives depend on others traveling.

Because I dont own a 10,000 sq ft home in Newport Beach, you gotta be kidding! I will not convince you otherwise and list my assets, but I will tell you that I have never been married, no kids, but own two Malinois. I actually feel like Im swimming in my primary residence, which sits on 12 acres on top of a hill. The number of employees do not dictate wealth, people are expensive and when I indicated ownership, I did not mention I have three partners. One of the companies entered an ESOP today. I am sure the term is foreign, but maybe google can help. Somebody on this platform articulated Canadians are well educated, you must be from Mississippi.
You read too many Hollywood tabloids!
My only motivation to write was to offer a different perspective, a Trump supporter perspective, an American perspective, but now some people that can’t handle the truth, insult. It must be because Canadians are so educated, inclusive and accepting. I pay HR to handle employees, I forgot how narrow minded and stupid many people are!

I'm confused. It's well known that blue states are getting less blue and the red states are just getting more red. For example people and businesses are leaving New York and California for Florida and Texas. The results of the recent US election show an overall shift to the right. Could it be that people in general have tired of the failed policies of the Democrat party in general? This appears to directly contradict what you are saying. Maybe you're wrong.
Throwing out Ayn Rand references and using words like, "veracity" and "oligarchical" may impress some people but if your premise is flawed then it's flawed. Having a good vocabulary is great but if you don't know what you're talking about it doesn't really matter.

But wait, Washington state and Mass. both show pop growth in 2024 among others , so it must mean theres actually more Dem voters.

Logic flaws. I hope the words were of low enough syllable count for your liking.

Funny I just read in some thread that the US has increased its GDP by 15% and ours has decreased by 5% to explain that we should fear the US and trump .

We don't fear trump ...our concern is from a disbelief that we will have to deal with his childish antics.

For Canada to have a balanced trade with the US ; we would need to cut our entire oil production to the US which is the cause of the imbalance. After 30 years of free trade to manufacturing has balanced itself based on the strength and weaknesses of each other industrial complex with in the equation the strength and weaknesses of our respective dollar.

Anyone think Doug Ford is sorry he opened his big mouth last week and is now backpedaling? The WSJ reported, within 12 months of Trump taking office, the United States will be come the largest oil exporter in the world. It would be currently, but slow Joe shut it down and pushed E/V’s.
https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/18/world/video/doug-ford-canada-energy-us-tariffs-ebof-digvid
Canada is paying for commercials in America on CBS, NBC and FOX in ann attempt to convince the public it is better for the two countries to work together. Is America paying for like commercials in Canada, better yet, is Trump paying?

Im a duel citizen and hope the US and Canada can reach an agreement where Americans will not be ripped off, which is the reason Canadians should turn up the pressure on Parliament.

I agree 100%!! Just remember before his first term the Russia hoax materialized and then nasty Nancy placed roadblocks at every turn. Now that she is finally circling the drain, Trump has no excuse. Notice that he is not selecting the typical people that are placed in the Cabinet. I expect Trump to clean out the DOJ/FBI, reduce energy prices, cut off Ukraine, deport illegals, reduce taxes, close the border and get rid of the green new scam. If he doesn’t accomplish all of it, I will be disappointed, but he is still much better than Harris.
You may think Nancy is circling the drain but from her hospital bed where she is recovering from hip replacement surgery she just bitch slapped AOC and got her own guy, 74 year old Gerry Connolly inserted as the Democrat head of the House oversight committee. Mama Bear still has some claws and she is NOT going quietly into the night.

Two people I despise but for me when one person throws tantrums publicly and the other says nothing; I would not call it bitch slapping.

Better stay quiet in Trudeau's perspective and work behind the scene as everybody knows he won't get the better in a tantrum match with a professional scammer.

The Canadian course of action will be like the last trump's presidential executive order imposing tariffs on us ; It will be to aim where the response will be to most effective. Doug Ford leans for the cut of terabytes of power others have other ideas . Quebec is not overly enthusiastic about it cutting power as the biggest exporter .... so far but will see . Manitoba being the supplier of the most red states will be the Jack in the box if that plays out as a tool .

Doug Ford leans for the cut of terabytes of power others have other ideas . Quebec is not overly enthusiastic about it cutting power as the biggest exporter .... so far but will see . Manitoba being the supplier of the most red states will be the Jack in the box if that plays out as a tool .
Sorry I just cannot understand your position, economically Canada is not even on the same planet as the US. The country is only a sex tourism destination, nothing else. Is Manitoba some type of animal? Seriously, most of the world doesn’t think twice about Canada, it is in the same category as Tunis, in the big scheme of things, it doesn’t matter. Like most of the EU, the economy in Canada will collapse without the United States. I fully expect deals to be made with very little public acknowledge….until budget time, when it will become obvious. The only way Trump can exempt Social Security and tips from taxes is to come up with another revenue stream. The same is true regarding the reduction of income taxes, he must get the money someplace. He promised to make “fair trade agreements“, “bring back manufacturing jobs” and either pull out of NATO, or make every country pay 2%. All three will have a profound impact on Canada, the EU, Japan, Mexico and many other countries. Trump thinks about dollars and cents, as he should, he is a business man, not a politician. Trump does not have to sit around hold hands and sing Kumbaya. IMO, that’s the best part, he can never be President again, which is the reason corrupt politicians did everything possible to prevent his return. If the sheep herders in Gaza releases the hostages before Trump takes office, that will increase his standing even higher. If they don’t, I trust Trump will follow thru with his threat. As for the socialist POS Trudeau working behind the scenes, he is just shopping for vaseline and practicing to relax his sphincter muscle. Time will tell, but I think the next four years will be great for America.

On a lighter note, does anyone drink whiskey? I collect whiskey and guns and have many of each. Is Caribou Crossing any good? E6DF7923-D39E-4840-B1E2-42EFFFFB3A6F.jpeg

Anyone think Doug Ford is sorry he opened his big mouth last week and is now backpedaling? The WSJ reported, within 12 months of Trump taking office, the United States will be come the largest oil exporter in the world. It would be currently, but slow Joe shut it down and pushed E/V’s.

The U.S. produced a record 12.9 million bbls of oil per day in 2023 under Joe Biden. Exports are light crude and petroleum products, heavier grades of crude are imported at lower prices. Crude consumption averaged nearly 19 million bbls per day in 2023 a shortfall of nearly 6 million barrels per day.

Donnie never got over the goo goo eyes Melania made at Trudeau. Her fantasizing about a younger more virile and less smelly man must drive him even more batty.
