I corrected the false claim that China was Communist and that all socialist soceities are authoratarian and devolve into fascist state.
No, you actually didn't correct anything. Because Norway is neither a communist or socialist state.

In terms of Covid, im not set on re-litigating more than learning a lesson. Pandemics were warned about, came, and we were found lacking. Theyll come again and worse. If it takes two weeks at home to beat it, seems like a good low cost solution with far fewer deaths. Bit no, lets stick our heads in the sand sounds about right wing.
You're not attempting to learn anything. You are simply stating your preference (i.e. 2 weeks of "shutting everything down").

If socialism means keeping control of your resources--and the profits--in the country as Norway does with oil, I'm all for socialism.

After 100 years of conservative rule in Alberta, 70% of oil revenue flows to owners in the US.

That's a lot more stupid than socialism could ever be.

Sure, lets just call Norway a 'European welfare model state with egalitarian ideals and state positions in major sectors ' a bastion of capatalim then. But of course , because its its about 5 syllables we can rcite that China is Communists, even though the workers hold no power.

My 'preference' is what they usually do in severly contageous pandemics that break out. But suit yourself, you want black plague or cholera in New York then by all means rinse and repeat and see what happens and who dies so you can make a buck and stick it to the man.

Who did the oil exploration?

Who drilled the wells?

Who built the infrastructure?

Who built the pipelines?

Who built the refineries?

Was it the government?

Was it "socialists"?

No, it was the big, bad oil companies.

Because of them, you can drive your car (if you have one)

You can wear clothes, heat your home and eat your food that was delivered to the store in a truck.

You literally cannot see the forest for the trees.

Pretty sad, really.

No, that's not what they do in other health crises or pandemics. In fact, since you brought up cholera, as per the WHO, there is currently a cholera pandemic, apparently ongoing for decades. I don't recall countries where cholera is present "shutting things down for 2 weeks." Stop making things up. Your personal preference is bordering on delirium/lunacy given your propensity to state things that are objectively false, such as stating that shutting things down for 2 weeks is "what they usually do in...pandemics that break out." Give it a rest mate.

Yes thats what ill do, i shant have an opinion because the grand and powerful poo-bah of the internet says hes right and that should settle it, mate.

Are you trying to tell me there have been no pandemic forced quarantines in Human history? That they havent been effective? That there were no alternatives to what Canada did during covid? That the planes letting people enter and leave should have just kept on flowing? That years of resurgence and deaths were better outcomes? Whats your point here exactly beyond 'you have a preference' ?

What is your view even, beyond 'I know and you should shut up, trust me'? Have you backed your view with anything? Or are you just thought police?

You advocated for "shutting it all down for 2 weeks" - call it a shelter in place order. That is NOT what a quarantine is. A quarantine is isolating the infected and NOT isolating everyone, infected or not. It's why when your child gets chicken pox, you don't send them to school, i.e. to quarantine the child at home, they don't shut down the school to quarantine all the children who are uninfected. I'm shocked how little you know about things, and how you cannot see the actual difference between a quarantine and what you are advocating for - which is miles and miles and miles apart.

effective? where was it effective?

better outcomes? again, look at the stats, what was done wasn't effective, anymore than where nothing, or close to nothing was done

including in places where there was virtually no vaccines available to the masses

reality, when did covid basically stop scaring the vast majority of the population?

after virtually everyone was considered to have been infected about 2 yrs ago or so

and the truth about the vaccines not really stopping you from getting it, just like the lies about reinfection being a huge threat, again stats, facts, reality

you still have irrational emotional cripples walking around with masks, even when outdoors, by themselves, in their vehicles by themselves

go look at the stats, virtually all the people who died, we old, unhealthy, with one foot in the grave

from the beginning, that was known, Kenney said it in AB, got roasted, for telling the truth

there was no need to protect 99.5% of the population

it would have been over way earlier if we didn't have irrational emotional cripples driving the short bus

effective, haha

the damage done by lockdowns, specially to children is going to be felt for years if not decades

effective, ffs

'Shocked'. Its proposterous that you think i meant locking everyone up, just to get my kicks and are reacting like i said shoot all grandmas. Lack of reading comprehension.

Those who decided they knew better and could do whatever they wanted whenever despite the risks to others are *precisely* the people who should have been isolated for two weeks( by police if required). The whole fucking thing lingered on because of these delusions of exceptionilism.

Quarantine just means to isolate and does not specify methodology. Its not 'miles and miles away' unless you dont know history. They have shut down schools to 'quarantine and isolate' so your example is kind of weak. If the virus is virulent enough such as ebola they will isolate the whole village to prevent spread, because they cant tell carriers from early onset; Covid was the same.

Canada didnt really get serious because they were worried about the bucks over lives ( eg essential barristas and continued international travel) I think that was a mistake that could have used a better solution. Hopefully for the chikensneezedmallpoxmonkyflu thats comming they'll figure it out.

One day you will be old, unhealthy and one foot in the grave and someone will cart you off because its cheaper. But hey, at least theyll be living their lives to the fullest with all the shiny new toys from China.

You missed my take. Effective quarantines are succesful, Canada did not institute one...they didn't go far enough which would have made it shorter.

Instead they knowtowed to the 'im special' people and left too many holes.

If you think its cool to just let some thousands of people die unnessiscerally because they're don't fit your mold of a model citizen then youve got some heart issues you should get checked out.

shutting everything down for two weeks would have been better in all ways than the 2 years drawn out 'muh freedoms' bs response we had.
I never stated that you said "lock everyone up." I stated what you stated as demonstrated by your own words "shutting everything down for two weeks". My reading comprehension is fine. Your inability to recall what you, in fact said, is laughable. You trying to slightly massage your own words into something else (i.e. quarantines, which you don't even know what that means) and then accusing me of saying you said something about "locking everyone up". Again, I said nothing about your preferred response to pandemics that even remotely approaches an accusation about "locking people up." All I stated was your own words - "shutting everything down for two weeks."

And what did i mean by shutting everything down? How would effectively quarantine without being able to test for carriers and ending as many transmission vectors through contact as possible for two weeks?

The results of a test would generally determine who to quarantine. Again, we quarantine to isolate those infected - determining who is infected would naturally be facilitated by testing. I never stated testing is not a part of quarantining. But again, quarantine is not about "shutting everything down for to weeks." I am not spinning - you are actually spinning. You are implying things that I never claimed, like you stated "how would effectively quarantine without being able to test..." - exactly when did I state that we couldn't test for infection? Again, accusing me of saying things or making points that I never stated or made is you attempting to spin/move the goal posts/whatever.

Yes. Probably because in the beginning it was a new and novel virus. And then there was the issue of having sufficient test kits available. And when test kits were more widely available, they were prioritized, because, there is no way in heck, probably even now, where this country can continuously test everyone. Ergo, the limited amounts of test kits were triaged to areas/situation that were pressing and/or necessary, like a hospital or whatever. Seriously mate, why do you have revisionist history??? In early 2020 when Covid was becoming a thing, what makes you believe that we had the capability back then to test anyone and everyone? You have serious issues. You cannot analyze what happened in 2020 through the perspective of what was actually happening at the time. We didn't have enough masks, gloves, shields for medical practitioners in the early stages of 2020 - what in gawd's green earth makes you think if we couldn't get enough latex gloves for doctors that somehow we had sufficient test kits for a new and novel virus? Mate, your ability to analyze/comprehend what was actually going on in early 2020 is sorely lacking - even now in 2024 when these things should be obvious by now.

So me oh my oh, whatever could they have done in the meantime? Held square dances and disco parties? Maybe open up a kissing booth?

Or maybe shutting down everything non-essential (WHICH THEY DIDNT) for a couple of weeks?

Again with your revisionist history. Schools (in BC) basically closed in March 2020 - if memory serves, didn't restart until September. Bars, restaurants, personal service businesses all shut down in March 2020. Borders shutdown to non-essential travel. Sure, it wasn't "shutting everything down for 2 weeks" but, again, you've shifted the goal posts to "shutting down everything non-essential for a couple of weeks". As far as I can recall of 2020, alot of things were shutdown, if you believe it wasn't enough, it's a free country, believe what you want. That said, all those closures, lasted more than 2 weeks. Most of the closure orders came in March 2020 and BC's phased restart plan started, if memory serves, May 2020 - again, much longer than 2 weeks. Again, your inability to recall what actually happened at the onset of Covid in 2020 is sorely lacking.
