We have seen dumb-ass social democratic politicians win when enough people feel fed up with recent regressive gov’t decisions or arrogance. EG: taking away free transit options or upping rates for low income residents in Seattle. So it is easy at times of electorate outrage for nitwit socialists like Katie to sneak in with free everything promises, pandering to the lowest social denominator, and tax the employer mantra. Same happens when the socialists eventually fuck things up and the electorate swings back to more extreme macro-economic policy promoters.
Happens at the federal level too. Hating Trump has become an unhealthy addiction, and all the flagrant memes won’t fix stupid in either party. The Rep’s will need to start looking at re-balancing and leadership renewal post-Trump, even though they can’t signal it just yet. And moreso, the Dem’s need a complete fucking party overhaul and smarter, more moderate leaders to raise up. Right now, they have no real leadership or vision, just vitriol. At least the word salad of woke policy priorities has toned down, and we are seeing the rhetoric get back to social imperatives like healthcare and wages.
For me, the most disturbing thing about the new Seattle Mayor is not how ridiculous the person or the outcome is, but rather it is another example of the continuing large political pendulum swings toward unbalanced extreme positions that represent emotional salvation, but offer false/unsustainable solutions and further social polarization.
Diplomacy is Dead. The inmates are running the asylum, and we the people put them there.
