We made a bet. You honor the bet. It was not conditional. He gets it. He has commented and I accept that. A deal is a deal and he accepted the terms.
You dont get it. Nothing said in this thread is so monumental that it will have any earth shattering effect on world events and is not vital to the very existence of our country. In fact most of it is sheer comedy. Control your emotional responses. You seem to be the type of person who would be shaking someones hand with his fingers crossed behind his back.
I don't want to become part of the United States either but I have at least the common sense to realize its never actually going to happen unless we make an agreement with Russia or China to allow them to place nuclear weapons in Canada pointing south. Then we will get Ukrained. Anything else is hyperbolic nonsense and will not be done without the agreement of the entire population of Canada.
You know what they say when you assume.... especially about someone you don't know.

Did I come across as emotional ? I didn't rant or ramble for multiple paragraphs....which would be a sign....oh well ...i must come across as an overeacting , deceitful and dishonest person for suggesting a pause in your bet .... Chrissss I'm a trump 2.0

I might have a chance in 2028 !?!? 😁

I think it’s kind of mean to hold somebody you don’t know to a year long bet. Maybe it’s because of the way I was raised. You’re grounded for a month! 2 hours later. You’ve been well behaved you can go out now. Anyways. Lighten up xox.

In my opinion you don’t have to listen to him. You’ve been well behaved you can be off grounding now 💕
Not when they agree to it with enthusiasm. He was certain he was going to win and I was going to take the hit. She was supposedly leading in the polls at that time. But anyone with common sense could tell that the more she was exposed to the American public the post Convention "Joy"was going to wear thin. If Trump had lost and I started posting in this thread in mid February I would have been swarmed by the TDS clique on here, and the mod would more than likely have banned me. I doubt I would have gotten away with no punishment for this type of incursion. I was raised to honour agreements I made. I guess you were not.

So I was at a social gathering of my friends yesterday. Just a bunch of old guys, 90% white, 90% over 50, mostly moderates or right wing. We had one fellow there who was trying to convince us that we should literally should sell out our Canada to the US, take the money. He was saying that Kevin O'Leary was the guy who could lead us into a brilliant deal. He didn't get any takers. The guy is retired from the military and the police. I wonder how deep the US leaning is within the military and the police. My gut feeling is that most military will fight for our country. Not so sure about the police though, especially the older white dudes. Left me deflated.

If a lousy $5K is enough to appease you regarding current Russian influence in the GOP and your home country, I fear greatly for the future of the United States.

Many of us gave more than 5K to charity last year.

Jesus Christ, "My country is siding with Putin and attacking allies these days, but a few thousand bucks makes it all better."

But that is the level of the trumpers, they can be bought for a pittance.

This guy is on point, I remember not long ago they wanted Russia finished for good so it’s understandable they are standing their ground. The US seems to be a threat globally, hopefully negotiations can finish this war sooner than later.

In my circle of 40s to 60s the two pro trump supporters including the one " trump 2024 " flag flying supporter has become mum about his politics which is a nice change. There's always hope

Oh Jeffrey ....who states the grand lines but skips over Russian behavior following the fall of the USSR.

The one thing i side with him is that the US should not have installed the missile systems in former satellite republics even after they joined NATO

Is it just me....or is the US going to state on Monday:

"Mexico and Canada have agreed to match the US's tariffs on China. Furthermore they have addressed our concerns with fentanyl and illegal immigrants. The US will not impose the 25% tariffs."

Reasons are Trump et al realize there will be a shitstorm of concerns in the US when the populace finally wakes up to the negative aspects (steep rise in prices in some areas eyc.) AND Trump realizes he is beating a dead horse about annexation.

We shall see.

The US goaded Ukraine into war with false assumptions and assurances. The US war machine just doesn’t learn. Cuba should have been the only lesson they ever needed, but no, again and again the US chooses chest thumping arrogance over diplomacy.

Jeffrey Sachs has the most credible explanation of this whole Russia/Ukraine war fiasco. Should have been avoided. Inconvenient for westerners who only look to vilify the eastern powers without so much as a glance in the rearview mirror. Lots and lots of bad shit on both sides that should not lead to war.

Decades of US foreign policy assholes, Nato expansion, and Zalenski all need to be taken down a notch to move forward. Putin’s a murdering dickhead, but seriously needs a path to go lick his wounds with some kind of security deal that doesn’t mean Russia gets surrounded by Nato with more American bases being built next door. Hopefully that process has started.

I like that Sachs doesn’t not take a particular party stance, he exposes their history of collective ignorance and stupidity. Will Europe develop a collective foreign policy as urged? Will the UN security council step and do something about Isreal/Palestine or leave it to Trump to impose his country-club solution? China not the enemy? Sounds blaspemous.

Time to suck on the bitter dose of reality and move forward with dramitically different approaches.

If people keep dying, no one is Right. Figuring it the fuck out beats the human toll of military escalation.

I was raised to be kind and empathetic towards others. I’m also quite free spirited. I don’t gamble (period) or do anything I really don’t want to do.
So I would never be in the position either of you are in.

But I do think you need to lighten up. Just a little. Life is short. Enjoy the little moments and let strangers enjoy theirs.

You’re probably right you might have been banned. But it never happened so it doesn’t matter.

I'm a devote agnostic who happened to stumble upon this Canadian Anglican priest's YouTube channel. He comments on world events from a believer's perspective, but he's so clarion in his analyses, that I have huge respect for how his mind works. Maybe not everyone's cup of theology, but I offer this recent video as an example of how Bible-thumping conservatives with a hard-on for MAGA are living in an alternate version of what should be their own reality.
