I think you’ve missed my point.

I don’t think Quebec separatism would be a good idea any more than I do Western, but I do agree that everyone has the right to self determination.

My point here is that if anyone looks at what is happening to US democratic institutions on a daily basis and says “hell yeah, give me a piece of that!!” they clearly aren't a fan of the freedoms they claim to be. Quebeckers sure as hell don’t want to join the US, and never have. If Western separatists think the grass is greener on the other side of the 49th parallel they either aren’t paying attention to what’s happening every day, or they don’t really like democratic freedom all that much.
Quebec seems to be separating from the US

The bond market started to crash this morning. That made trump cave in on his stupid tariffs before a real serious economic problem occurred that would have been a disaster.
indeed. fuck face took it close to economic collapse.

this mornings cabinet meeting Q&A showed Trump pointing to his sycophants for bizarre excuses because he had none of his own. how horrible it must be to have to cover for this guy.

Trump says that China hasn't reached out but will eventually... meaning that his administration is desperately trying to get China on the phone but no one is answering. once current inventory from China is sold in the US then everything from tooth brushes to vacuum cleaners will double in price. i'm sure that they're feverishly working on face saving excuses for Trump choking on Xi's dick as we speak.

70 poor countries that can't afford US products anyways are lining up to "make deals". the big boys are going to give Trump a proper spanking.

more hilarity and economic carnage in defence of one mans ego to continue.

It is this extremist liberal hatred that fuels the extremist right sentiment.
Are you saying he isn't whiny, petulant, petty and vindictive?
It's not extremist to make the observation that he is a narcissistic POS.
It has nothing to do with party affiliation, he's a horrible person.

To all the Western Separatists in Alberta and Sask. who say they’ll be happy join the US if the Liberal party forms our next federal government: Is this what you’d prefer?

Y'all went bat shit crazy and claimed Trudeau was a communist, or a fascist, you’re rights were being suppressed, and loads of other nonsense. Now these things are literally happening next door. So It’s time to show your true colours (spelled with a U thank you very much) and decide.

Do you like what’s happening in America and still want to be part of it? Then you’re welcome to fuck right off and go. Don’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

However flawed it may be I’ll take a real Canadian Democracy over whatever the hell the United States has become.
Can you blame them for separating? After all the shit all the Federal governments have put them through. Pretty much raped Alberta of its oil money to pay for the rest of Canada after the fall of the Ontario's auto-pac in the late 1980s. The prairies also have a aboriginal criminal problem caused directly by the Federal government.
For criminal activity, for all the big cities it usually Hell's Angels, on the west coast its Chinese triads, on the prairies/northern Ontario its Aboriginals. Its all about drug money.
Canada is a closed economy, because only certain manufacturing is done in Canada. Mining and Foresty is drying up (these are the big paying jobs in the day). So high taxes, and GST and tax on gas and PST all contribute to why most Canadians are feeling the pinch, even failing due to high housing prices (rent and mortgages), now add inflation since Covid (causes by lack of products due to the interruption of trade during covid); and now in the last year it been food prices with the big grocery chains making hundred of millions in profits....

You can see why people are turning to criminal ways.

No. The extreme right fuels it's own sentiment. Based on the lies and shit spewing idiocy of it's followers and leaders. But they are experts at playing the victim.

Same for the left.

I look at the USA right now as two extremist factions calling the other side stupid while believing they are entirely correct and everything the otherside says is wrong. And they’ve both got about half the population beleiving them.

Whether you drink blue koolaid or red koolaid, you are still drinking koolaid.

And if you can’t enjoy the taste of your koolaid without belittling others, you too act the bully and perpetuate the extremism and division we see today.

No healing comes from the sport of kindergarten slurs spouted on social media, in either directions.

But carry on, it is fun to watch extremists roil in their own self-righteous anger.

Except that every time the Democrats have come into office they leave the economy in good shape.
When the Republicans take it over whether it be Bush 1 or 2, or Trump, they tank it and sink the US into trillions more debt.

Summary
The statistics for the entirety of Donald Trump’s time in office are nearly all compiled. As we did for his predecessor four years ago, we present a final look at the numbers.

  • The economy lost 2.7 million jobs. The unemployment rate increased by 1.7 percentage points to 6.4%.
  • Paychecks grew faster than inflation. Average weekly earnings for all workers were up 8.4% after inflation.
  • After-tax corporate profits went up, and the stock market set new records. The S&P 500 index rose 67.8%.
  • The international trade deficit Trump promised to reduce went up. The U.S. trade deficit in goods and services in 2020 was the highest since 2008 and increased 36.3% from 2016.
  • The number of people lacking health insurance rose by 3 million.
  • The federal debt held by the public went up, from $14.4 trillion to $21.6 trillion.
  • Home prices rose 27.5%, and the homeownership rate increased 2.1 percentage points to 65.8%.
  • Illegal immigration increased. Apprehensions at the Southwest border rose 14.7% last year compared with 2016.
  • Coal production declined 26.5%, and coal-mining jobs dropped by 25%. Carbon emissions from energy consumption dropped 11.3%.
  • Handgun production rose 12.5% last year compared with 2016, setting a new record.
  • The murder rate last year rose to the highest level since 1997.
  • Trump filled one-third of the Supreme Court, nearly 30% of the appellate court seats and a quarter of District Court seats.

A note I picked up off the net that really sums up with the convicted felon rapist's presidency looks like.

By Some US Guy Names Charles Pierce

“In my life, I have watched John Kennedy talk on television about missiles in Cuba. I saw Lyndon Johnson look Richard Russell squarely in the eye and and say, "And we shall overcome."

I saw Richard Nixon resign and Gerald Ford tell the Congress that our long national nightmare was over.

I saw Jimmy Carter talk about malaise and Ronald Reagan talk about a shining city on a hill. I saw George H.W. Bush deliver the eulogy for the Soviet bloc, and Bill Clinton comfort the survivors of Timothy McVeigh's madness in Oklahoma City.

I saw George W. Bush struggle to make sense of it all on September 11, 2001, and I saw Barack Obama sing 'Amazing Grace' in the wounded sanctuary of Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, South Carolina.

"These were the presidents of my lifetime. These were not perfect men. They were not perfect presidents, god knows. Not one of them was that. But they approached the job, and they took to the podium, with all the gravitas they could muster as appropriate to the job.

They tried, at least, to reach for something in the presidency that was beyond their grasp as ordinary human beings. They were not all ennobled by the attempt, but they tried nonetheless.

"And comes now this hopeless, vicious buffoon, and the audience of equally hopeless and vicious buffoons who laughed and cheered when he made sport of a woman whose lasting memory of the trauma she suffered is the laughter of the perpetrators.

Now here comes, a man swathed in scandal, with no interest beyond what he can put in his pocket and what he can put over on a universe of suckers, and he does something like this while occupying an office that we gave him, and while endowed with a public trust that he dishonors every day he wakes up in the White House.

"The scion of a multigenerational criminal enterprise, the parameters of which we are only now beginning to comprehend. A vessel for all the worst elements of the American condition. And a cheap, soulless bully besides.

We never have had such a pathetic counterfeit of a president* as currently occupies the office. We never have had a president* so completely deserving of scorn and yet so small in the office that it almost seems a waste of time and energy to summon up the requisite contempt.

"Watch how a republic dies in the empty eyes of an empty man who feels nothing but his own imaginary greatness, and who cannot find in himself the decency simply to shut up even when it is in his best interest to do so. Presidents don't have to be heroes to be good presidents.

They just have to realize that their humanity is our common humanity, and that their political commonwealth is our political commonwealth, too.

Watch him behind the seal of the President of the United States. Isn't he a funny man? Isn't what happened to that lady hilarious? Watch the assembled morons cheer.
