I've paid often in US$ that have been left over from trips abroad or to the US. Most of the ladies have been good about it and there was never an issue on a 1:1 basis. Your best bet for exchange rate purposes and so on is to withdraw CD$ from one of the Bank ATMs.

Th the guys that ripped him for just asking a legitimate question it only goes to show the inferiority complex some Canadians have towards the US. This was a legit question and the US$ is still the most accepted currency in the world. I've paid escorts in all continents with US dollars during my travels and considering that more than 80% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the US border the comparison to Nebraska is entirely invalid. Having said that when travelling to most major US cities, I've had no trouble paying at stores with CD$ if I was short on US or they didnt take plastic.

In New York City (in a taxi) and Las Vegas (at a hotel casino), when I inquired about paying in CAD$, they looked at me like they had never seen it before.

I hope that if you paid a Canadian SP USD$, you at least tipped her the appropriate bank charges that it would cost her to exchange it to CAD$. IMHO most SPs will accept USD$, but very few will not feel inconvenienced by it. Essentially the client is passing on the inconvenience to the SP.

I do agree that it is a legitimate question though... the OP said he had no problem getting CAD$ if necessary and was just wondering.

I accept USD without a problem. I've been working in many countries in the world and I'm used to different currencies. Having USD is actually handy, most of the stuff I'm buying online is coming from US, not mentioning the fact that advertisement rates on PERB and other sites are in USD!
I have no intentions of changing USD back to CAD, I more often have to change CAD to USD! So fx rate is not an issue.
The only problem are counterfeit notes as mentioned before. I never had a problem with AUD, EUR, GBP or CAD, but I got counterfeit 100U$ once, it's really poorly made and easy to counterfeit.

There are many places you can exchange your money, but I agree the airport is the worst place to do. I found this place near Robson and Burrard to give the best rate.

I used to work at a currency exchange kiosk in Victoria downtown.
Any currency exchange company who makes their profit out of exchanging money won't give you a good rate.
On top, they usually charge for handling fee as well.

I personally think banks are the best. Any bank will be better than currency exchange kiosk.

If you have no Canadian cash, but don't wont to go make your way to get Canadian money, how about asking for a credit card payment option? I accept credit card, and many other girls do.

Just a thought?

Thanks for everyone's advice. I will look to convert to Canadian dollars, hopefully find some good rates (not at the airport!)
With a 4 day visit, I was hoping to see several ladies, but appointment are always in flux, so it can be difficult to gauge how much $$ to exchange.
It would be a hassle to make daily trips to the bank; conversely, bringing back a huge stack of Canadian $$ would be counter-productive as well.

a larger than usual portion of US currency circulating outside the USA is counterfeit.....N KOrea, and other rogue states are notorious for this type of export. In Vancouver, there are numerous reputable (sp) places to exchange currencies without getting reamed.....VBCE and J &M are two examples, and VBCE has multiple locations in the lower mainland
