The best argument against gay marriage, was from a christian.
He thought that if a gay couple married....had a kid....that kid could be teased at school by christians against gay marriage.
Therefore harmful for the child, hence a reason gay marriage mustn't be permitted.
Pretty easy to counter that by saying that will only change if homosexual relationships become more accepted in the general public. Someone is going to get teased, why not this generation? That and teaching understanding in school and whatnot, the schools love that. My kids already know all about families with two fathers or two mothers, can sing songs in mandarin, japanese, english, french, and spanish, know important dates and aspects of every major religion, and have been taught about most allergies and handicaps and how to accomodate them into their playtime. (Too bad the schools havent tried to teach them basic math yet... but thats a different topic entirely)

Oh I never said it was a good argument, just the best I have heard. Of course it has endless flaws and is somewhat circular.
But it is a step up from the more common "jesus hates fags" argument.

About 37,000 same sex marriages expected in California alone during the next 3 years. Almost half a billion $$$ in spending. Additional windfall for the land of sunshine and opportunity. Good time to be a wedding planner in California.

I will like some one else said most likely get flammed for this.

But shouldn't religion stand for something, and not just change with the flavor of the month.
I really don't care if your gay, don't give a flying fart actually don't care if you get a licence and get married either and have all the protection under the law of a married couple.
I don't care.

But getting married in a Christian church. I think relgion should take a stand for something, Thats it.
And you don't change just because some one doesn't like your views.
You don't change with the times, the moment.

I think christianity has a great capacity to forgive, but that doesn't mean it should embarce you while you are doing something againest it's believes.
I think christianity has a great understanding of human weakness.
Let he who is with out sin cast the first stone.

But there is a difference between understanding and embracing.

I think marriage is for family and procreation.
Two males or two females can not produce a child.

Sorry but I think science sometimes is just silly.
There was a guy at work now he is a women.
We can change some one's sex.
But has any one ever stopped to ask should we.

Yes two men can adopt a kid, or two women.

But are we wise enough that we can make that decision that we should.

I know it has been done and there are stats to show they work. Gay marriages and children work.
But stats can be fudged. And they don't always mean what they think it means.

Again I don't care what two men or women do, behind there closed doors.
But is it that wise to give them the same rights and status inside a christian church.

I for one would feel uncomfortable.

There is no "Christian Church." A number of denominations perform gay marriages, others don't. Some people that belong to churches that don't reflect their views on certain topics, lobby them to change. Some churches change their creeds to suit their congregations. When they don't change, dissatisfied members join other churches or form new churches. That is the history of "The Church."

I don't know what particular set of beliefs dictated by which particular sect you subscribe to, or why you think such institutions are deserving of any particular respect, but you should at least understand that there is no monolithic "church" which has any say in what others who call themselves Christians believe.
