Hey everyone.

Been a longtime lurker, and I've finally decided to toss my v-card. I called a number that was supposed to be the Fox Den, and the nice lady on the phone asked for my full name. I was nervous and pretty much hung up. Is that normal? I know some of you have been to this place so I was hoping some one could advise.

Yes, The Den will also ask for photo ID if you go there.

Personally I'd always go with an Indy rather than dealing with shops and micros again. IMO Indies are more professional, friendly and good at what they do.

I made the same decision as you around this time last year. I researched some indy SPs, sent a nice long email about my v situation and what I was looking for, and this set up a series of short messages that allowed me to get familiar and somewhat comfortable with the SPs. I chose two to correspond with and both responded back positively to me, and I ended up seeing both during my time in Vancouver. You will be nervous right up to the point you knock on their door. I was nauseous, trying not to look suspicious when I arrived outside of the building a bit too early, and it seemed like everyone passing by knew why I was there. Once you meet the SP, the conversation/getting to know you bit at the beginning with a good indy SP will make you feel comfortable and helps to take your mind off about "performing". I was nervous but excited once it got to the "take a shower and meet me in the bedroom" part, what happened next was like having fun with a friend you never knew you had until about 30 minutes before. If you are socially awkward, going with a well reviewed SP maybe the best choice for you, and also I would recommend setting up more time with an SP so you can get comfortable with them. I have been back to Vancouver again since my "first time" and I still get a little nervous meeting someone new, but I also have more confidence than I did before. -A
