As you have seen if you have been on the board in the last few days, we have had a lovely troll who took exception to being banned for trolling and having multiple handles. What makes it interesting is that he seems to think he was banned for simply using Tor to access PERB. In the first place, he was banned for posting some really nasty insults and then when his IP and other info was checked, we found 2 other handles from the same Tor IP address, with the same anonymous email server, registered on the same day.
Seriously, if we banned everyone who used Tor, it would get quiet around here. Even the IP our troll used has also been used by several other legitimate posters, none of whom was banned or even contacted.
Here's the truth. If you follow the board rules, which are pretty simple, you won't ever hear from a mod. If you break the rules, whether you have been on PERB 10 years or 10 minutes, you are going to end up with a warning PM, or an infraction, or a ban, sometimes a short one, sometimes longer and as a last resort, a permanent ban is issued. The only time someone is banned forever on a first offence is when they have spammed the board, are a multiple handle for a banned user or have otherwise done something very serious, like stalkers or outing personal information.
In every single case, if you don't like the decision, send an email or PM to Fred. Complaining or attacking the mods or Fred on the board itself will lead to a ban.
