How many times have you gone to a bar, met a girl, spent a fortune on her for drinks, cab, so on and so on, in hope of getting her home for the night and having a little fun?
In my opinion the only reason one would choose trying to score in a club or a bar, over calling an SP, would be the thrill of the hunt. Why pay good money in a club for a 50/50 chance, when you can contact an SP, and for probably the same price as a good night on the town, cab, drinks for yourself, as well as her, you can have a sure thing who knows what she's doing.
Thinking about it, buying a gal drinks in a bar in hope of getting her home for some fun, is no different than what the government would like to charge you with, by contacting and SP for her services. Makes ya wonder, where is that thin line between, "Can I buy you a drink or a few and you can come back to my place for a good time?" and "I have $250 and would love to have you come over and have some fun!" It seems to be a very thin line!

Unfortunately people with logic and good sense are either prohibited from governing, or have the good sense to not get involved with that wasteland called government.

I've asked the same question - why is it legal for me to call up some business and negotiate or order some product or service, and why is it legal for me go into a bar and try pick up someone for casual sex, but it's not legal to do both at the same time? No good answer.

Bad example... the moralists will say driving is legal and drinking is legal but doing both together is provably dangerous. Maybe it's because prostitution is exploitive. Oh wait - then so is the janitorial service that cleans my office building, right? It's a job that not everyone wants to do, it may be a last-chance fallback for some and it's something that people will pay for. By that metric, just about any McJob could be just as exploitive...

I'll stop now before I get really angry.

How many times? Never. I prefer SPs - If I want the thrill of the hunt, I'll TOFTT. If I'm just looking for some action like everyone else at the meat market, I'd rather just pay and get a date that's very likely to be a good time.

The flip side

The flip side to that argument is reflected in the current wave of amateurs on CL. Perhaps their thinking is “I’m gonna sleep with a guy anyway, why not get paid for it?” I read that exact sentiment in the blog of an island girl, who went on to work in the biz. $$ to get naked with an amateur seems outrageous to me, for a few reasons. First, if I’m going to hire a pro, I expect a certain level of service & expertise. Second, it pushes the pro rates up in the process. So, the money grab by the amateurs ends up limiting my options by forcing (allowing) the established, skilled courtesans to increase their rates.

And one more thing. An SP is marketing 2 things: a product & a service. As the reviews on perb have become more creative, they have become less informative. I need to know if her ads are accurate. Are her photos for real? Are they recent? Did she deliver as promised, or was there an upsell? Or maybe, you got all you asked for, but she mentioned more was available on repeat visits? You may think she is hot, I may not. So, stick to the facts, maybe the personal attacks will cool off.

Also, don't forget that politicians really don't give a rat's ass what should be morally acceptable (they always want to legislate morality), but what will buy them or cost them votes. As long as the bible thumpers of the country have political clout the politicians will cater to them. When they argue the topic, they always use the worst case scenarios, i.e. the 14 year old girl who has been brain washed by a pimp or the 15 year old that has to turn to prostitution to buy food (usually because social services would rather send her back to an abussive homelife, rather than help her get a new start.)
I think politicians are nothing more than self-serving pimps (except with them, everybody gets fucked).

The reason many ment try to go the pick up si that there is some satisfaction in knowing someone has found you attractive enough to fuck you. Agreed stryker. I love meeting women in the most unusual places and under the most innocent circumstances. Bars can be good also but there are many places to meet; grocery store, kids' soccer/hockey games, gas station, etc. Really it can happen anywhere. It's not my goal every time I leave my house to seek out and hook up with a lovely lass but it can happen anywhere at anytime and it's great when it does. Resigning yourself to only "paying for it" is not for me. I need a balance.
