I donate my time volunteering with a few places locally. Would have no problem helping out if i knew my money where to reach these people.

I think this is what honda761 means:
In this PERB thing, there are chinese members. He is calling these chinese members to donate their money back to China to help out rather than spending an hour or so with an sp for this earthquake relief. Therefore, chinese helping out chinese!!
Correct me if I'm wrong honda761!!

I'm not to keen on the Chinese Government considering the way they treat Tibetians. But I have no animosity againt the Chinese people, so I guess when they send me my tax refund this year I'll donate some to help.

Hopefully, acts of kindness to China during this tragic event will soften the Chinese Governments attitude.
I have been very impressed with the response of the Chinese government. They have been very open regarding what happened and the steps they have taken towards the search and rescue.

Much different than what's happening in Myanmar where the Generals won't let in any aid workers and want to steal all the aid for themselves.

In a nice wet pussy!
Precisely. I was about to donate something for the Burma cyclone victims, but decided not to because of the debacle over the aid. Why bother if the aid is either getting blocked or is going into the hands of their dictatorship?
Weak argument. I donate to MSF Medecins sans Frontieres or Doctors without Borders in English. They've been operating in Burma for a long time, every cent goes to the specified area you choose, and all their doctors and staff are volunteers.

this thread guy is stupid. The Chinese government have billions of dollars in surplus from trading and they are investing in american company.

Use that moneys to help rebuild the country INSTEAD of corruption.

I feel sorry for the Chinese people living in a communism country.

I think all honda761 meant was for all the Perb members of Chinese descent (of which there are many, including yours truly) to do whatever we can to help out, be it via donations, volunteering, etc.

To all you yahoos who rant on and on about how China is a rich country and do not need outside help, I have 3 words (make that 4 actually) - GET A FUCKING GRIP. If you choose to be a cheapskate and a heartless bastard then be my guest but don't hide behind your assortment of limp excuses.

Doesn't help YOUR team "The Habs" now does it? :p
Not really but it will sure as hell make me happy that the President's cup curse lives on.

Back on topic, please open your heart and more importantly your wallet, and give generously.

It really does affect you more when its your own people and the land you are from. I didnt contribute to Katrina and other places because I didnt have a connection with the places. Thats just human nature, right or wrong to help our own kind out more.

Sorry if my heart isnt as big as the next guy. But in this case with China since my skin is yellow its hurting big time.

Sorry if I jumped in too late. I did not read any of the middle posts here. I only reached the few questions in the beginning of the thread. My simplest answer:

"It's the thought that counts!" You care for those in need, that's why you donate. If for some bad reason the money does not reach them, the very least is that you tried.

Also, read my signature! ;)
