Ion drives have been around for a long time (since the 60s I think), but this particular one seems like it's a quantum leap in the level of technology. It sounds very promising, but personally I'd like to see more research done towards making a feasible version of a Bussard ramjet.

an open letter to NASA

Dear NASA

Get the fuck out of space! You aren't supposed to be there! Stop dicking around! And give me back my tax dollars!

Sincerely,
The thousands of people who are, of course, intrigued by space, but don't give enough of a fuck to waste billions of dollars on it.

I don't believe in fucking around in space, no matter what advances have come of it.

Thousands of people all over the world got affordable, reliable automobiles because of Hitler. Harsh comparison, but the point is that bad things can have good side effects - but this does not mean that we should still do those things.

That's what they said to the Orwell Brothers.
