In Your Wildest Dreams!
Apparently, my participation here is causing problems for other people, and that has NEVER EVER been my intention. I'm out, because I apparently have badly misread how my words were being received and perceived. I don't intend to cause internet drama, I am not a 12 year old girl; I'm a 40 plus university educated former elementary school teacher. I love what I do, I love doing it; I'm reveling in the freedom I've gotten from being able to tell my beloved 74 year old mom that I am an escort who is well regarded by many of her peers and delightful clientele. She helped me go shopping for dresses to wear when I am 'entertaining'.

Find me on ERSList, find me on the blog, but you're not going to find me here for a while, except in the ad section, because it's paid for. I am voluntarily removing myself...I don't like the person I am perceived as. I stand up to bullies, and usually, I tell them with a smile on my face "have an excellent day" while thinking "go F*** yourself up the ***** with a ground glass dildo!

Blessings all...and to the haters; Have a really excellent day!

Erica

sad that you let someone bully you around,
tough if someone doesn't like you,

ask me if I care if some one doesn't like me,

and credentials as in university educated or im a doctor or a lawyer, doesn't mean shit,

I would rather know some one with a lot of life experience and common sense as opposed to some one who has just read a book, I read read a hell of a lot actually, and to be truthfully words are meaningless. actions are what matters,

if you have something to say stay and say it,
if you don't then fine

I've personally noticed that one of the weaknesses of this site is that anyone who cries out that their feelings got hurt causes a site wide reaction.

Like you, I've also assumed we're all adults here with a thicker skin than a 12 year old girl or boy. Point out anything that causes someone else
discomfort, you're evil.

I don't always think "I agree with whatever is being said here" but I quite like your participation on the board as part of the overall conversation. I hope you find a different solution to whatever is going on that caused this. I'd like you to stay

Sorry to hear you are self-imposing a time-out. I enjoy reading your comments on many topics and the English/Grammar stuff was interesting. Just wish everyone quit picking on my brother Jack, affectionately known as "Uncle Jack" And he doesn't have a horse so I've never had to help Jack off a horse. More conversation topics for us next time :)

Ms Erica... I am tempted to say something about this being a rather Canadian response (I'm not), but I would probably offend someone.
But, I am a little bewildered after reading the interchange in the PPP thread as to why you feel you should have a 'time out'.
I may have hit the end of the road education wise, by English grammar is one of those mysteries of the universe I don't get into debating, particularly with former (or current) teachers. I usually get it wrong. But, I did enjoy the banter that was taking place on the thread, and that is all I saw the disagreement as... good-natured banter. There wasn't any serious 'drama' as far as I could tell, unless you were receiving heated PM's that the rest of us are unaware of.

I do however enjoy your intelligent, erudite, forthright, and often opinionated contributions to this site. They are refreshing and often entertaining, and so I think we are all the poorer as a result of your self-imposed exile.

One of the problems with the written language is that we don't get any sense of tone of voice, intonation or any of the body language that goes along with it, and as a result we miss most of the language. There are various numbers for this, but Dr. Albert Mehrabian suggests that only 7% of any message is conveyed through the words themselves, 38% of the message is through how it is delivered (vocal features) and 55% through nonverbal elements (body language, etc). Maybe these figures can be disputed (or the studies that led to these figures), but what is clear are that the words alone make up only a fraction or minority of the message. And so it isn't surprising that there are misunderstandings when we don't get the full nuance of the messages on this forum. That is simply a limitation of the medium.

I hope your exile won't be long, with the length suggested by beginner being quite adequate.

I join the others in this thread who hope that Ms Erica decides to re-join the PERB fray before too long. She is one of the most forthright and interesting posters here.

Oh, and thanks, Ms E, for bringing the Viking exhibition at the museum in Victoria to our attention, way back in April or whenever it was you mentioned it. I'd most likely never have known about it if you hadn't mentioned it. I went last week, with two of the women in my life.

Man Mountain...you have hit the nail on the head. Apparently, I am what Dr. Malcolm's Chaos Theory calls a 'strange attractant!'
That's funny. You totally missed my point! Chaos Theory at work! :p

The point is this: when any of us post something, all we can do is be as clear about our intentions as we can be by choosing our words carefully and being as specific as we can be in what we write so that it can't be misconstrued by others. I know that I have fallen short of that from time to time as well but we do have control over that. But even when you're as careful and clear as you can be, sometimes others will misread and misinterpret. And some members will just rub other members the wrong way with their tone or style. And that's the unpredictable part. Hitting the "post" button to submit anything we write is always going to be like throwing a stone into a pond. You just never know what the ripples are going to do.

Not taking a poke at Ms Erica per se but generally speaking there are two ways to address any perceived issues.

1. Discuss it with the person or person's involved to come to some sort of understanding.

2. If that is not possible, top button, right hand corner, Log Out. Come back whenever you feel like it.

My only gripe with threads like this is they have drama attached to them and are used to garner support rather than address the real problem.

Nope I totally GOT your point; Chaos Theory. We can take action, but we can never predict with 100% certainty what the repercussion of those actions will be because of how some random set of actions by others elsewhere and how those 'ripples' intersect eventually. Also known as the Butterfly Effect. I completely understand that too. At the same time, I realise that I am powerless over people places things and ideas, and the only person's behaviour I can be responsible for is my own. I wanted to take time away to reflect on MY posting behaviour, my transparency, my 'voice' here, as it were. I make no bones about saying that I might have not have been born with this haircolour, but I have earned the right to wear it! I am very proud of my Celtic/Norse heritage, and I am easily roused to passion; sexual, political, crusader "Save The World", elevate everyone!! More sleep, less caffeine, and thankfully, no more need for the prescription painkillers that got me through the first 2 weeks of August!

To everyone who has sent well wishes through this thread, thanks. Obviously, I am time back in, but the flip side of the 'forthright and genuine' personality is the 'emotionally hypersensitive with an overinflated desire for the world to be a just, fair, happy place' aspect of who Erica is. Really, I'm grateful for all of the many exceptional friends and clients I've made here, and I don't have any desire to go away, just maybe to be slightly less forthright. It shocks people, because they expect people to lie or to prevaricate, or to say one thing when they mean another. I try really hard to say what I mean, because I always mean what I say. On those rare times when I am being sarcastic in print, I will endeavour to persevere and remember to at least italicize it. Maybe I need a disclaimer at the top of every post: Warning: Author is a Sarcastic Redhead!

Love to all who wish it, and goodwill to all and sundry

Did you take the over or the under?

Honey, I NEVER bet against myself! Of course I took the under. Much lower odds, of course; nobody really thought I would stay away long. I didn't ever plan to. Just needed to step back, give my head a shake and remind myself that, in this forum my words are all I have. People can choose to read them and laugh; read them and weep; read them and scoff; whatever. Their responses and perceptions about my motivations and subtextual meanings are completely beyond my control, and thus, not worth worrying about!
