This or That thread sets PERB Lounge record

In an orgy of posting over the last 24 hours, the This or That thread has set a new PERB lounge record (subject to verification by Vancouverman, the official PERB statistician).

Yesterday morning there were 1,750 posts. This morning there are 2,426. That a record breaking 676 posts in one day. If that thread's posting for the last day were an independent thread (and the This or That thread did not exist) that would qualify it as the thread with the most posts in PERB lounge history . These are the top 5 lounge threads sorted by number of replies/posts:

This or That is miles ahead of anything else.

The top 10 posters to the This or That thread yesterday morning are on the left below, and the top 10 this morning are on the right:

Hifisex has been deposed as thread leader first by Swguy (who upped his total in the last day by 160 posts to 372) and then by Catalynn, who upped her total to 358 with an amazing 194 posts in the last day. And coming out of nowhere, Little Alex now has 165 posts and is in position to have hifisex eating his dust in no time!

The thread that won't die!

The "This or That" thread continues to amaze with its seemingly perpetual momentum. Last Friday (only 4 days ago) it was at 1,750 posts. Now it is almost double that, sitting at an eyepopping 3,132 posts, being driven to new heights by the devoted (some may say fanatic) postings of Swguy, Catalynn and Little Alex. Little Alex, who 4 days ago was nowhere to be seen on the thread, now has 396 posts in the thread--100 more than the deposed thread leader hifisex.

And Catalynn has edged out Swguy for the coveted lead poster spot. She's now on top.

This thread is truly going where no PERBert has gone before.

Here are the updated stats for the top 10 posters as of July 9, July 10, and today, July 12 (from left to right respectively).

Phew. I had some free time on my hands this weekend (stretched into Monday) and thought I would pace SWguy and Catalynn as they did the Ironman / Ironwoman stretch.

This was great recreation and an excape from a very busy life! Thanks Makhno for keeping the stats.

I may be retired but not what you would call a 'retiring' personality - LOL - caused a few controversies in this thread!

In terms of posts, clear cut. It seems as ten or so people have posted of lifetime of posting in this one thread. However, there were a number of lounge threads in early 2003 that had 20,000 or so views - three or four if memory serves - and they seem to have evaporated. In any event, they must have been interesting enough to get that kind of traffic but somehow found a way to *poof* without fanfare.

Post count now exceeds 3,500

The thread's post count today hit 3,500 and shows no signs of stopping.

The top 10 posters on July 12 are on the left below. Today's top 10 are on the right. Catalynn has now consolidated her lead, leaving Swguy 65 posts behind her impressive 591. And Swguy's troubles are not over. Little Alex is now nipping at his heels, a mere 10 posts away from wresting second place from him.

I know, many will think it's totally insane to post so much in such a short period of time but in a strange way:

(a) It's been a break from my normal way-too-serious life
(b) I got to clear out my brain cobwebs with creative wordplay
(c) It was an opportunity to 'meet' some of the new posters

After tonight I'm going to take a break again for a week or so so it will be up to Catlynn, Swguy and Hifisex to pace each other!

Stats update

Time for a stats update on the thread that refuses to die.

A mere 10 days ago the This or That thread was rounding the 2000 post milestone. Today its at 3900 posts and poised to break 4000.

The last update of July 14 is on the left below, and today's stats are on the right. While Catalyn continue to hold onto her lead with 649 posts , Swguy's second place status has fallen to Little Alex, who has 580 posts. Somehow I don't thing LA is going to settle for second place. Watch this spot.
