Okay Kevs confused............... yes again. Partypoker, Paradise Poker whomever they are all guilty. They all advertise that their sites are not gambling sites. Horseshit. You can play for free but you can also play with real money and lose. Checkout Partypoker real money tables like the $100/$200 Blind Tables. These guys and gals are playing with REAL money. There can be a thousand dollars of REAL money on the table up for grabs. That makes it a gambling site. Yes No?

Anyone got an explanation how they can get away with misleading the public or am i more confused than i thought?

you mention the loophole yourself: you CAN play for free so therefore they can skate a fine line on whether or not there's any 'gambling' going on.

this kind of crap happens in every type of business every day ... you don't need to look far to find similar kinds of crap advertising.

none of companies you mentioned are located in US .... so they can get away with almost anything.

I've been playing on Partypoker for some time, and I heard about Paradise, Star, and others lots of good stuff, for long time. They advertising might be crooked, but they are genuine places.

IMHO, the reason for it is, that people will try it for FREE ... what's wrong with a free game .... but then .. it is like a drug .... the adrenaline rush, and the need for it grows .... and only real money can give it to you. And it is so easy.... a CC, fast online transaction.. and you are in ..... you can win milions, like all the bigshots on TV.
And some do ....
and some make living off it too. I was playing with one guy ... he was playing really carefully, and it was working for him.. he was about 100$ ahead .... I did a search on him.... at the same time, he did play on 14 tables, at each table, he was ahead between 20 to 250$ .... not bad for a few hours of work

Thanx guys....

These sites maybe all located off shore. With my dealings with PartyPoker i know that they are located in Gibralter, and that maybe the take on all the poker sites we see on television that they are located offseas. Nonetheless they advertise on US and Canadian television with misleading claims. THIS NOT A GAMBLING SITE..............thats a LIE.

By law

All the sites are located off shore. In order to advertise in the States, they must print that in their advertising. If they didn't, they would be subject to US Tax laws. All winnings are not taxed....even to those paid who live in the States. If you go on the sites, it is strictly an practice only site. However, they indirectly lead you to the paying site......you must manually click on another icon to the paying site. A little dodgey, but thats the loophole.

If you pay close attention to the tv commercials, the sites they are advertising are partypoker.NET or pokerstars.NET, but the real money sites are partypoker.COM and pokerstars.COM. Sneaky but it makes it all legal.
that's absolutely correct. obviously they are ok with you accidentally typing .com instead of .net, but in their defense, you can play on the .com sites for free if you like, and the .net ones are definitely free and not gambling websites.

good luck on the tables!

You sound like a real winner... Is it possible that some of the "crappy things in life" could be that you have no money since you lost it at the casino???
