That, of course, is possible but vets have pills for that now. I'll stay with owner over feeding.
There is a lab next door who is twice it's normal weight with hip problems. Owner said she'll probably have to put her down. She caused the situation and the dog pays the ultimate price. PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!

in photo number two, there's definitely something funky going on with the dude's upper wrist and hand - there's NO way a wrist spans more than half a face height. i mean dude's a bear, but not that big

also, there's something about the supporting hand that doesn't look right. it's too small to make out properly, but there's a lighter area between the cat's left leg (left side of photo that is) and it's tail. you can make out dude's hand in there, but there's that lighter area that doesn't look right
the upper photo is of the world's largest domestic cat all right, but it's not particularly overweight
