I LOVE old movies, especially ones from the 1950s. Back then, Hollywood stars were iconic in there own time. I'm particularly fond of the actresses so who is your fav actress of the 1950s? Thee are only 10 in this pole because Perb polls only allow 10 choices. The 3 I ommitted but will still acknowledge are Doris Day, Natalie Wood and Ingrid Bergman. So who do you like? Back in the day, actors and actresses had to sing, dance and act. Today the actors and actresses are so pampered and don't have half the overall talent those in the 1930s-50s. If you've ever seen a movie with Cyd Charisse or Grace Kelly and they danced in it (which was most of them) it was just elegance personified. Don't get that anymore, or at least to the level you did back then.
Some of those women aged much better than others. Bridget Bardot, not so great. Audry Hepburn, Kathryn Hepburn and Sophia Lauren were fantastic. Unfortunately Audry Hepburn died of cancer at 63. I don't think Kathryn Hepburn was really considered a siren back in the day, more of a strong woman character.

The beauty of a woman is not just in her physical appearance it is her aura, her style & panache, her coy mannerisms, soul searching solilequies & heart pounding proclamations.
Audrey was the total woman, she commanded attention with her stately grace, being in her presence would cause deafening silence from awe struck throngs both proletariat & patrician.
Watch her in Roman Holiday or My Fair Lady or Breakfast at Tiffany’s if these do not impress you then you are more of a pygmalion than Eliza Doolittle.

Er, I wouldn't exactly call Betty an actress - at least not in the sense that most assume when you say "actress".
Betty would be more of the sideshow variety.
Well i wasn't just basing it on sex appeal. Factors like talent, mystique and how they've stood the test of time were also factors. Personally, I find Audrey Hepburn to be rather mousy and I've never been a fan of Liz Taylor. Betti Page, while having achieved a level of iconic status, was not a Hollywood actress of any acclaim and although quite alluring, doesn't qualify for this poll.
