It's the crazy season aka the Presidential race.

Hopefully we never see the ass clown Trump as the next President but at least we will have soundbites and other humorous stuff for the next year or so.

Well from those who elected Barry twice, what do you really expect ?

" Donald Trump is scheduled to speak from the American Airlines Center in Dallas ....
An estimated 20,000 people are expected to attend the rally.
"

See video of Dallas appearance.

Not the Democrats.
If he's referring to the "Barry" who got elected President twice - he's got to be talking about Democrat Barack Obama

If he's talking about Barry Goldwater who ran for President against Lyndon Johnson in 1964. Barry was elected Senator 5 times in the same place that keeps electing John McCain. He's also the Senator who talked Richard Nixon into resigning. Barry Goldwater's defeat in 1964 reduced the Republican Party membership in the House and Senate as Lyndon Johnson and the Democrats won by a landslide achieving a 2/3 majority in both the House and the Senate.

I'm pretty sure sfmike gets it. Barack was known as "Barry" to his friends and asked them to call him Barack after many years.

If wiinky was referring to a "Barry" who was elected President twice, he had to be referring to Democrat Barack Obama. It's highly unlikely that Barack Obama and Donald Trump share the same base of voters.

Barry Goldwater was more conservative than many Republicans. He won the nomination by signing up people that wanted to go backwards. So, he won the membership drive in the Republican Party but lost badly against a forward looking Lyndon Johnson.

Lyndon Johnson is why Blacks can vote, he's why Blacks technically are entitled to equal education, he's why minorities can't be refused simply because they are a minority. If Lyndon Johnson hadn't been President, Barack Obama wouldn't have been able to rise to enough prominence to be President.

Lyndon Johnson's major failing was that he kept throwing resources at the Vietnam War. That was the biggest cause of the Social Unrest in the US and was the cause of the 1968 riots at the Democrats Convention. Because the Democrats were responsible for the Vietnam War's escalation, Richard Nixon easily won over Hubert Humphrey and did manage to get the US out of Vietnam.

Nixon ended American involvement in the war in Vietnam in 1973 and brought the American prisoners home. At the same time he ended military draft. Nixon's visit to the People's Republic of China in 1972 opened diplomatic relations between the two nations, and he initiated détente and the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty with the Soviet Union the same year. His administration generally transferred power from Washington to the states. He imposed wage and price controls, enforced desegregation of Southern schools and established the Environmental Protection Agency. Nixon also presided over the Apollo 11 moon landing which signaled the end of the moon race. He was reelected by one of the largest landslides in U.S. history in 1972.

I have a couple of friends who moved to the US for professional reasons.
Both MDs with specialties, so the money is a huge draw.
Both have the same analysis of the USA: it is very quickly becoming a two class society. An upper class, less than ten percent, with marketable in-demand skills and education. A lower class with no skills, too poor to afford university, no secure job prospects, and no stability in their lives.
The upper class owns the politicians. Hilary takes millions from big banks for her campaign despite pretending to be a commoner. Trump shrewdly panders to the masses, talking nonsense but he knows it is what they want to hear. Whichever one gets in will feather their own nest and forget the little people.
The choice is Bernie Sanders or The Rest.

The Republicans have the Kochs, the Democrats have Soros. Neither party is going to risk antagonizing the patron with his hands on the money taps.

The Kochs make money when the World continues major pollution and goes to war. Soros makes money when the currency collapses taking the stock market with it. The Kochs have pledged 900 million to the Republican central campaign for 2016, no doubt Soros will match that for Hillary's campaign.

We all have Google and Wiki at our fingertips too

This was intended as a humorous "look at those idiot Presidental candidates" thread.

Goldwater never had a glimmer of hope and was reputed to be The Hawk with his trigger finger ready to deal with those pesky Russians.

I digress. Party on folks for the next year +

The Republican wackiness is something that makes me pause and wonder how the USA can actually operate politically. The laws are in place already yet a clerk wouldn't do her job because of her religious beliefs. Well isn't there supposed to be transparency between Church and State without question?

Wingnut Mike Huckabee said he would go to jail in the place of the clerk who refused a marriage licence to a Gay couple. Pardon me but this Political crazy making is simply nuts.
