The Union that is Perb

I figure as great metaphor is that Perb is like a union, providing information and opportunity for others that would otherwise really struggle in the hobby.

For instance, Trawlers comments about the pricing cartel, those that pay higher prices anger some, kind of like crossing the picket line.

Some new perberite can search, and walk into Veronica at MMC and say I really want you to squirt for me, not realizing that it might be a complicated proposition.

Or guys that go in looking for services that are very much YMMV and then are pissed that they can't get the same mileage, not realizing that it might have something to do with attraction or hygeine.

Is a welder a welder, or a teacher a teacher, or a nurse a nurse, all the same, no difference???/

HMMMMMM.

Your analogy is less than apt...

except that the key to well-functioning unions is a membership that realizes that whatever their differences, they have more that binds them together.

I see it more as a . . .

community of like-minded individuals - more like the Consumer Reports of the pooning hobby (notice the analogous terms - test drive, YMMV, etc. etc.. . .;)

The purpose of this board is to provide reviews of SPs, to provide information in regards to who are the best in the industry and warn everyone away from the scam artists. Therefore more apt comparisons would be the Better Business Bureau or Consumer Reports in terms of consumer protection, websites like Rotten Tomatoes which is all about movie reviews, or RateMDs.com where people can rank and review their doctors.

Perb is a review board, says so in the name.
Unions dont really review anything...

Except you BOBO criticize posters for not participating properly. Says so right in your signature.

Trawlers comments reagrding the Pricing Cartel indicates this is much more than a review board, is has hardliners and cliques with motives like bashing Legends, or judging SPs for the money they make, which has nothing to do with reviewing anything.

Bobo, going by the name alone is quite the simpleton position. Funny I am really not that surprised that you can't think beyond that. You really are not that complex of an individual are you???

But isn't a cartel used to raise prices? In that case we should all be concerned about the cartel raising prices?

Now if there was a cartel that lowered prices (unheard of in history) we could hobby much more often

Trawler has joked that there is a PERB PRICING CARTEL. Where posters get pissed because people pay what they choose to pay. Thinking that it ultimately affects their value for dollar.

Perberites are fighting for rights with SPs. Becasue I get a full GFE for $240, someone else thinks that they should.

Also Perberites want to walk in and see X Y or Z SP for the first time, and have a mileage expectation becasue they read that someone else got a BBBJ or something else. All POONERS are not equal in this hobby, but many lean on PERB to try to make it that way.

Sounds a lot like a union. Where Bobo wants the same hourly rate that I do, despite me being twice as productive.

close but no cupie doll

i think you are close but this place is not like a union. i see it as a community. i think praxis touched on this.

- we all have something in common
- we all post to inform, warn, delight, and to meet with others and to communicate
- we all feel a sense of loss when someone retires from being a service provider or a service user
- sometimes i come here to just read the posts and to be entertained
- sometimes i come here just to read about the latest health info, or to see what some special provider is up to
- sometimes i come here just to see who is pissing whom off
- some times i come here to vent about prices, others who complain unfairly etc

i am sure someone more articulate can say it better...but community comes to mind when i think of this place.
