I was watching the news the other night and noted a story about a ferry delay because some businessman forgot his briefcase. They herded everyone off the ferry and made them wait for hours while the bomb squad did their thing. Everyone interviewed just accepted that this sort of thing is to be expected now a days. No one was even upset.

How much does all this security (sic) that is being layed on everywhere cost us. We can't can't even take toothpaste on the plane to scrub the mung off our teeth before meeting our welcoming party. I'm not sure what is worse, the terroroists who are actually planting bombs to make us afraid, or our fearless, dipshit leaders who trot out every few days and remind us to be vigilant. Vigilant for fucking what!
Western society has lost all sense of perspective. We spend enormous resources to create security screens a ten year old can poke holes in. We put up with, nay, willingly accept uninmaginable, a few years ago, inconveniences all in the name security. Half of our leaders have declared just about every group a terrorist organization, and the other half raise flags and march in support of these same groups.
I am ready to wave the white flag, but no one will accept it, because all most terrorist groups, and out governments are after is distraction. Our governments want it , so they can continue to line their own pockets, and terrorists so they can distract the local populations from their real goal, power.
WWIII doesn't look like such a bad option anymore.
