It is mentioned in something I copied and posted in a previous comment that the Hindus have a 'classification point' for the various scents of women? That would be an interesting read.

I think the 'marker' idea is quite valid. I am a farm girl and I know that baby critters and their mom's have a memory link using voice and smell.

I remember my mommy had this really neat smell on her arms, the upper arms. My brother and I would bury our noses in her skin and inhale.

She smelled like a vitamin candy they make in Germany, called "Nim zwei", kind of fruity with a Vitamin B smell.

I wonder how many people remember the smell of their mommy? Ok, I am not talking about vaginal scent, here, just the regular old 'mommy smell'.

Ever notice how some neighbour houses have really distinct scents? I mean, outside tobacco and alcohol, or any kind of filth. Every time I walked into a friend's house I was distinctly aware, through the scent, that I was entering somebody else's 'domain'.

I know that some vaginal scents are dark and musky; probably what you are referring to as 'damp autumn leaves on the point of rotting' which is a nice earthy, healthy smell. I love that scent. I associate it with dark haired women.

My Aunt was a combination of this with a very sweet odour that was almost cloying at times. It was a thick heavy scent that permeated her bedroom. It smelled like elegance: beautiful fans, chic dresses, teak furniture and sex!

Blonds I associate with lighter flowery scents, like honey with amber musk.

Despite all the intimate things I have discussed with women, I have never in my life had a discussion about the way we smell. I find it very odd that this subject feels so taboo, and, yet it is such an important marker in our health.

I could smell, within the week, of when I was pregnant with baby two and baby three, having memorized it from having baby one.

I didn't do it on purpose. I just remember changing my panties and thinking "I smell pregnant".

From that point I became interested in why scent changes.

Hi Laurel

It's a beautiful topic. I don't associate the smells with different physical types. I think the diet connection is probably a very big part of it.

Do men taste/smell different in such specific ways?

And I like to smell a lover's underarms. I can't always actually smell anything but I know that we have another form of smell system- a more purely hormonal one that registers even though we may not actually smell anything.

And am I weird for liking this and DATY so much?:) I don't care and won't stop - I'm just curious:).

I had a client with a very traditional diet rich in seafood and oolichin. He had a nice odour, it was tangy and salty, with a warm scent. I remember asking him if he ate a lot of fish because his skin was so beautiful and smooth. There was a scent of fresh raw oysters, that salty cucumber scent. I actually got hungry when I was with him and couldn't stop thinking of sushi.

The best smell on a man comes from his neck. If I bury my nose just in the crook of the neck there is a great scent, unless he uses too much cologne.

I think most men we meet scrub down with a lot of strong smelling soaps. I can identify the soaps sometimes LOL.

There is a sharp smell some men get under the arms and it is exacerbated by stress and fear. Even if freshly washed, within minutes the smell is back. I experienced this while on amoxicillin and it drove me batty.

My under arm odour has also gone back to normal since taking the probiotics pearls. I have rarely needed antiperspirant as I rarely ever sweat, so I was shocked at how a little bit of stress would produce this very, very sharp odour. It smelled like fear. Maybe under arm odour is caused by unfriendly bacteria. I have met men who sweat a lot and never smell.

The scent of a man is quite alkaline. There is a flesh scent with that alkaline scent of sperm. The uncut penis has more scent than a cut penis. Most of the time the scent is good :) It has been a while since I had an uncut man, but, next time I will try to pay more attention. The cut penis tends to be very dry which does not give any kind of bacteria a home, good or bad.

More intriguing than the scent, the most fascinating thing about a cock is the smooth velvety skin on the glans and the way it feels when rubbed across the lips.

Now, I shall be on a hunt to document the differing scents of men.

Interesting thread.

I have a hypothetical question for the ladies:

How should a man tell a wonderful and lovely woman he just had a great time with that her pussy had an unpleasant smell, like fish sauce, without offending her, because he definitely wants to see and spend time with her again?

Wiki keeps it simple. It's an interesting process!

"Olfaction (also known as olfactics; adjectival form: "olfactory") is the sense of smell. This sense is mediated by specialized sensory cells of the nasal cavity of vertebrates, and, by analogy, sensory cells of the antennae of invertebrates.

Many vertebrates, including most mammals and reptiles, have two distinct olfactory systems—the main olfactory system, and the accessory olfactory system (mainly used to detect pheromones). For air-breathing animals, the main olfactory system detects volatile chemicals, and the accessory olfactory system detects fluid-phase chemicals.[1]

Olfaction, along with taste, is a form of chemoreception. The chemicals themselves activate the olfactory system, generally at very low concentrations."

Btw, resercher, interesting stuff about the secreting glans.

I have no idea about scent specifically but I have done a lot of reading and research about the female genitals . When a woman gets aroused the normally acidic environment of the vagina changes to a non acidic one that is sperm friendly . The glands that produce the fluid responsible for vaginal lubrication ie changing the vaginal environment are called the Bartolins gands . these are different from the skein's gland that is responsible for female ejaculation. Hope that helps.
Women and men definitely taste different, in terms of secretions. Women's scents are primarily hormonally related, and alter due to cyclical changes in hormone levels. Though, diet definitely has a huge impact. Hormones play a role in men's scent too, apparently.
