I saw a new quarter...the one with a poppy embedded into the coin.....

Now that is cool....

We are fast approaching Remembrance Day... to every one who has served in the armed forces and specially to those who have put themselves in harms way.....I salute you and honour you....it is your sacrifice that has given me the opportunity to get where I am.

I can not repay you for your service...but I can say thank you...

Each year, where ever I am, I stop on the 11 hour of the 11 day of the 11 month and take a minute of silence to remember what you have given to me.

Thanks Dad

Wow LD, nice post.

I've been going to the service since I was a baby when my Dad took me. I remember the park being so full of vets, everyone else had to stand across the street, I couldn't even see the cenotaph. Now there is just a handful left. God bless and keep them all.

Vancouver - sort of
The new quarter is a great way to commemorate our fallen service men and women. Too bad they are only minting 30 million of them, suspect most will be hoarded rather than circulated.

Saw a TV ad for Tim H's today, seems they will have the coin to include in change.

Remembrance Day - last year in Port Moody they had 2 cannons to fire off a 21 gun salute - quite memorable. Only downside was each time they fired off, all the car alarms in the vicinty sounded off with their discordantly shrill noises.

Read an article yesterday where the Mint was saying Tims had to give out the quarter to anyone who asks for it but people wer saying Tims was making them buy something in order to get it in their change. The Mint says this is in violation of their agreement.

my dad wasn't in the services, but my Grandma was... she cooked in the Navy... without her good food, they wouldn't have made it back ;)

Westwoody,

Ask first before you shoot your mouth off at me.

I have four generations in my family who served in the military, 5 generations when I get my vision restored. Have been to Commemorative and Remembrance Ceremonies at Victory Park for the past 15yrs.

My comment was under a thick cloak of humour. This board particularily the lounge is for just that, humour. I really don't want to hear you bitching to me about how inapproriate it was. If you are looking for a little bit of respect for our vets then this board/forum is just not a good fit for you.

I type this as I'm looking at my family's photos of war heroes and I've never felt prouder to be one of them. God Bless.
