I did not know about that tax on booze federally. This won't stop the provinces from imposing their own tax on it.
How did you not know about it?It got filibustered in the Senate when all the Conservative senators voted against it as did a bunch of the "Independant" senators who were formerly Lieberal senators after Trulander declared that all Lieberal senators were "Independant" the budget bill got hung for 2 days in the Senate and it might have meant an extension to the Spring sitting of Parliament....that did not happen as the Lieberal/Independant Senator who is the Party WHIP cracked the whip and the senators that were opposed to the tax shut their collective cake holes and voted the Lieberal party line.

Oh yeah and as for that tax on booze it is Federal and tied to inflation and it has nothing to do with how much Provincial Governments jack up taxes on booze each year.So like I said a case of beer may just be a luxury item for the average Canadian in a few years.

As for another thing you probably did not know the Lieberals under the Shiney Pony were seriously considering taxing benefit plans. As in if you get say $2000 worth of dental coverage and you used it you would get taxed on it just as it were income and at the same tax rate as well.Happily that Lieberal idea got leaked to the media and it met with a lot of heat so they backed off.The Lieberals also wanted to jack up the Capital Gains tax to 75% but they backed off on that as it would have made a run on the TSX far worse than when the Conservatives said that Income Trusts would be taxed in 2011 and they said it in 2008.....the run on the market that day by panic selling idiots lost legitimate solid TSX listed companies a shitload in market capitalization in 1 day of trading and all because people did not read the WHOLE ...which they did not not take in to context of the timeline which was 3 years later when they would be taxed. If you had money on the sidelines 2 days later just waiting to invest and pick up bargains it was like hitting a garage sale and finding a box full of mint condition Star Wars figures from the original 12 from the first movie in the mint packages.

If you like out of control spending and higher taxes then vote for the Shiney Pony with the nice hair next election(Federally) he is good for nothing more than selfies and living a life of entitlement on the tax payers dime whilst he cant even come up with a good answer in question period in Parliament the 1 day a week he is there as he is reading from a script....if you like a tax and spend more Socialist government vote for him.

Update for the Shiney Pony.Though Trulander only goes to question period 1 day a week and if he is faced with tough questions from the opposition he shuts his cake hole and has his lapdogs answer for him.Trulander had the fucking balls to say that the former Conservative government left a DEFECIT of 18 BILLION on the books....even though the Parliamentary Budget Officer stated less than a year ago that the current Lieberal government got handed the books and there was a 1.4 BILLION surplus.Good ol selfie king with the nice hair and a pretty boy smile is right on track.....racking up BILLIONS in debt for Canadian tax payers....no cause for worry though as "budgets balance themselves" as per the direct words of the Shiney Pony....the fucking self entiteld douchebag is running Canada into the ground faster than his father did.

What does that have to do with our provincial political scene? Which is what this thread is about.

SR is Albertan, maybe can't imagine a Canada that's doesn't orbit around what his province wants.

I'll be honest, until 2 weeks before the election, I didn't even know what Horgan looked liked. Christy, on the other hand, was plastered on every billboard for a year and my taxes went to her government sponsored election campaign.

Now, I can't stand the BC Liberals. That being said, I would have preferred it if she hadn't come out like a giant douche and just behaved like a goddam adult (rather than playing games)... and if the NDP/Greens had manned up and let the government stand *while holding her feet to the fire*, we might've had a chance at some semblance of good governance for at least 2 years.

But no, we have children throwing sand. meh.

Another reason to thank the "First-Past-The-Post" electoral system.

Spoiled-brat major parties, who can't fathom having to ever share power or work for people besides their own kind.

A first world province with third world politics.
