I saw the article on the news tonight' I think I'll attend a presentation. I'm interested to hear the ladies' views on the show.

I think they should change the title. There is a world of difference between a Hooker and an SP.
A hooker will try to 'hook' you emotionally in order to get as much as possible for the least amount of effort. I see them as being similar to a con artist. NOT a SP.

I agree. Sex Work Monologues doesn't have quite the zing it needs though.

I am here.
I watched the piece on CBC last night. I think it will be a very interesting presentation. Each one of the presenters gives her perspective on the industry. One of the ladies is a sister of one of Picton's victims. Another appears to be an active SP now, although the piece did not say that outright. Another was a hooker whose step-mother did not talk about the woman's profession with her. (The step-mom was present for the run through and publicly supported her step-daughter)

I may go see this production.

i recognized Velvet Steele as the model in the opening, [I'd reconize those lips, corset, and shoes], she was a doll when I used to date her.

I suppose I should have searched prior to beginning another thread about this production. I'm just excited about going to see it!
I actually disagree and like the chosen title. It gives it a powerful tone to it and makes one want to know more.
No matter which term you use, whether it's hooker, prostitute, escort etc.....it comes down to providing your time in exchange for money. What those consenting people choose to do within that time is up to them. I have no problem being called a happy hooker!
