--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quimby, the acronym PA was first coined by Vancouverman who instigated the first PA meeting. Perbert's Anonymous (PA) is a self-depracating parody of other addiction counselling programs like AA and NA (Narcotics Anonymous).

The original concept was for otherwise anonymous members of the Vancouver section to meet and have some beers and get to put a face to your computer tagline. After all, most Perberts are not "public" about the paying women for sex concept. The idea was to get to know your fellow "Perbert" (intentional self-depracating humor).

The concept was then expanded and many sps attended. There were various postives and negatives from these functions.

The concept was then copied in Edmonton by various members and there were similar positives and negative outcomes and issues that arose.

the goal of the meetings is determined by the participants, but the general idea is that you meet the people from this board at either a public or private place and mingle.

Capiche?

===========================================

Just found this thread and wanted to add my 2c to it.

I was not the creator of PA name.... at one point, I found out who used it first on Perb, but.... don't remember it now.

But, I was a creator of PA meetings, and only ONE who was on all 10 public meetings.
It started as an idea of putting faces behind the anonymous IDs.
There were private meetings before. Little Alex orgainzed a couple of "guys only dinners", then "upgraded" it to "guys and dolls" dinners. They were a BLAST.
But, I wanted to open it a bit.
I drop this idea on Perb, and lots of people responded.... LOTS... about 20 or 30. At the end ... only 3 people would show up ....
Loves2Learn ---- my long lost friend
weekender
and myself
This is how it started....
We had blast ... and L2L even more blast than anybody else ... LOL
month later, another one was called..... two more people did show up
blowhard, and Kev,
We had lunch, chatted about perb, girls, talked to girls at The Drake.... just had a good lunch time meeting. We nominated L2L as "secretary of PA board" to write minuts of the meetings .... latter to be renamed as "moments of PA meetings" ... (I'm sure one can still find some threads called "momments")
Till the 5th PA meeting it was "guys only" event. Mind you, not by design, but just ... somehow it happen that way.
No. 5 was different, as ~Alexandria~ added her name to the list of PA members and organized few other girls as well. Of course, this changed the number of guys in attendance as well.
Last (public) one was No.10, and I was hoping to get 100 members there, but ... didn't happen... we had close to 50 or 60 people.
All meetings took place at the Drake except for one, that happen in New West
What was the biggest advantage ..... hmmm... I met a few people there, that I am still in contact .... and a few... I would like to be in contact.
Perbertia was not a bad place..... we all were friends then. (ok..... most of us)

Is it possible to organize a public meeting now .... I'm not sure .. probably not

But I think LA type of private dinner idea is possible and doable. All the best to any organizer who would like to do it. I always had fun on the dinners, still have couple of pictures from the "party that never happen" evening. (Paige, ~Alexandria~, Gina Lee, Sanityclause, Loves2learn, Kev, and myself)

and to all that would say ... we pay for sex.. and not for anything else .... I can tell you ... you are loosing a lot

ps.. there were PA meetings in Edmonton, and Calgary as well ( not sure if one in Victoria did finally happen) but none was an open invitation type as the Vancouver meetings.

a bit of PERB history, this did REALLY happen.

yes, really good times. I attended a couple of them as well. It was fun putting faces to names. Miss those days.

Winnipeg held a "invatation only" PA meeting back in February of this year. Everyone showed up which included 6 guys & 4 girls. We had a blast and plan to have more in the future.

For obvious reasons of safety and remaining anonymous to outsiders. Had it was stated publicly that the PA was being held at the Diamonds strip club in Edmonton, then we ran into the risk of LE spying on us...or worse, some media type sniffing for a story. I mean, it would have been easy to spot us...hot non-stripping babes and middle-aged geeks hanging out together, all wearing odd name-tags (our PERB handles). Unlike Vancouver, the Alberta cities are small enough that it's too easy to run into someone you know, which was the case with a couple of people.

I recently hosted a PA dinner in Edmonton where everyone was welcome - however duo to previous history there was some slack on the board, so I shut it down... but still hosted it.

Vancouverman, thanks for starting the PA's - I borrowed the name from you.
And it was a very good event Anna. What made it the best I think, was that it had all the right kind of people and the right attitudes. (except the guy in the hat)

If the meeting is held in a location like a local lounge or bar, there is no reason the group does not look just like a bunch meeting after work.

oh well.....maybe when we're all old and grey (some of you have a bigger head start) and sitting around the PERBert retirement home we can reminisce about the good old times in-between chasing the nurses around

We were ask many times what is this group ... sometimes we did answer... ohhhh... it is just an office party. You should see the big eyes and look on their faces..... WHAT THE F#$@% KIND OF OFFICE YOU ARE WORKING AT?

As for security..... and annonimity.... heck.. it was LONG time ago, Perbertia was MUCH smaller group, and we all were friends .... OK, not all... I was chasing squirrel around his campfire.
LE was probably present at the Drake, but... we did not do anything illegal. We drank beer, talk to beautiful woman, and generally had good time. It is not illegal .... yet.
Hard to belive, but it is true, it did all happen.

Ahhh my friend VM, I am most certainly still alive and missing my friends on Perb. We certainly had fun putting those dinners together. I still laugh at the remarks made by the waiters and other diners at Samba when we were in the back room telling stories and BH pulled out his well-stuffed wallet and demonstrated his crystal clear recall of every SP he'd shagged just from the phone numbers and snippets of info.

Your memories of the chocolate buffet night at Fleuri takes me back to fall '03 and the corner table with nearly a dozen gents and an impressive lineup of the most popular ladies on Perb. The after dinner party at Brandi's wasn't too shabby either with some of the ladies seeking out lap dances with their favourite peelers.

Even though I retired from the hobby, I was pleased to see VM start the PA gatherings in Van and sad to see them go off the rails when the darker side of human nature made them too risky. Private dinners still seem like a possibility, public gatherings more chancy. I don't get to Van very often but if you're up for dinner or a beer VM, Kev et al send me a pm and I'll try to connect with you in the fall.

In a nice wet pussy!
I still have that raincheck LA. My schedule did not allow me the luxury of meeting up with you late "in 2003". However, it is never too late, and so would appreciate being on your list of mystery persons to meet in the fall. :)

Of course not.
But I'm sure the LE in E-town would be interested in seeing who are these "johns" on PERB (especially now with this serial killer thing), then watch us leave so that they can take down our license numbers...and maybe later follow us around, or maybe bug our phones for all we'd know.

So many good times...

So many good memories...

I wonder if Fred Z still has this shirt...?

It all ended way too soon.

I too would love to see the day return where we could post a general invite and have another 30 or 40 or more people getting together just for the fun of it.

Sadly I think that day is a very long time coming.

VM... glad to see you back again. Glad also for the chance to remember the "good ol' days". Please Email me when you have a chance... there's a new sushi place (well.. new-ish, anyway ;) ) that we should go to...

Yes... it really did happen...
