Just lay on the couch with a cold cloth on yer forhead, maybe some mellow music on low.

Other than that I hate to say it but smoking a joint helps too.

I'm allergic to weed. :(

And as for pain killers. Oops. I already took some, and the headache is getting way worse. I don't want to cancel the appointment, but it looks like I'm going to have to. I'm starting to throw up too.

I'm sorry I don't have a quick fix but

I've known 3 people who suffered from migranes, 2 of whom have now traced the trigger to allergic reactions.

One found it was caffeine (even 1 chocolate chip sets it off now) and her birth control pills.

The other found it is yeast she has been allergic to for the last 20 years, at least that's how long she's suffered from the migranes.

Both don't suffer anymore now that they strictly read every label and avoid anything containing even trace amounts of their "trigger food". Actually the "yeast girl" says she's getting mild headaches again but not the ones that laid her out for days. Her doctor(a G.P.) is still making her avoid different things until he figures out what exactly it is. She said she has had to change her diet completely but it's so nice to see her smiling again!

So good luck Babybelle figuring out what your trigger is! I hope it's not something yummy for your sake!!! :p

Get a new car.

I had a headache from hell last week. I just went for a ride in my new car. That fixed it up. --- Kev

Re: latest indication is that the WORST thing

you can do is use any form of pain killer ... it seems to cause 'rebound' migraines worse than the original ... try putting some ice wrapped in a towel on the back of your neck ... 10 minutes on, 10 off or you will make it worse ...

some caffeine works well too ... but not too much
Actually massagegirl is right caffeine can actually be a trigger for migraines. Back when I consumed alot of caffeine I was getting about 2-3 strong migraines a month that would take several days to fully recover from. I cut way back on the amount of caffeine I consume and now I get maybe 1 migraine every 6 months and they are much less severe.

My doctor prescribed 2 drugs, one was a nasal spray that was supposed to provide quick relief and the other was a pill that lowers blood pressure and helps prevent migraines. I didn't find the nasal spray that effective and have forgotten what it was called. Then one time when I had a migraine a friend of mine gave me a couple of his over the counter Advil Liqui-Gels Migraine capsuls and I was very suprised to find they were very effective in clearing up my migraines very quickly, about 1 hour. I haven't experienced any rebound effects when taking them. They may not work for everyone but they are definately worth a try.

PS Babybelle have you had your blood pressure checked recently. You didn't mention how frequently you get these headaches but sometimes frequent headaches can be a sign of unregulated high blood pressure.

I have migraines but its not your everyday run of the mill type migraines. I guess im lucky for that. I dont get the headaches, a real bad one for me is like im drunk, feels like i drank a fifth of whiskey. How I control mine is with depakote, its a mild form of epilepsy medicine.

babybelle?

with regards to your migraines... i used to suffer from migraines... until i went to see an accupuncturist (sp?) in chinatown... i told him what my problem was... DAMNMIGRAINESFROMHELL... & after 4 - 5 sessions, i have not suffered from migraines EVER!!!

also a way, i was told to subdue a migraine (or a minor headache on its way to becoming a migraine...) massage the fat of your hand (the side that the headache is on) for 3 - 7 minutes... helps you to center yourself... and releases the tension...

hope this helps you too!!

sandalwood is a great relaxer too, from migraines increasing...

good luck!!
