I think you guys should rule out Pavel Bure too. Remember how badly he got booed when he came back to town? The greatest Canuck of all-time should be one who was also loved by the city, IMHO. He might be their greatest talent ever though.

Good responses, but my choice would be Trevor Linden (and I'm not even a Canucklehead). Out of the seven choices given for this contest, I think he embodies what is needed in a captain/leader/Canuck the most. He made an impact as soon as he started his career, leading by example and showing that Vancouver had what it took to be a champion. In my opinion, he is a prototypical hockey player, and Vancouver made a wise choice drafting him second overall behind Modano.

And King Richard should have been on the 'list of seven' instead of Snepsts.

couldnt have said it better myself! Trevor Linden!

I'd like to put my vote in for Shawn Antoski. He was so great that the Penguins traded some bum called Naslund for him (go figure). The greatest Cunuck? We haven't won a cup yet...the greatest canuck will be the one who wins it for us.

Harold Snepts is the greatest Canuck ever. Hes everything a hockey player should aspire to. Was he the greatest skilled player? Nope not even close, but his unselfish determination to win was unmatched.

sounds like something I saw on the news hour.

I vote for Dana Murzan. That guy could skate circles around Bure

Most exciting Canuck - Pavel Bure

Most skilled Canuck - Markus Naslund - averaged 41 goals over the last 4 season in an era of very low goal production

Greatest Canuck - Trevor Linden - Decent skills, excellent leader, In an era of prima donna atheletes and selfish overpaid pricks Trevors community spirit and selflessness exemplifies what a sports hero should be.

Eventhough I fell off the wagon when they signed Grampa Messier,(and will stay off ) during that time I have to say Linden. He was the one that helped lead the team to the Stanley Cup finals and he was the one that had Captain's Crew for the underprivledged kids (before Keenan dropped him like garbage). He approached the Orca Bay staff about gving back to the community.

The Greatest Canuck

Who has never helped them win anything. What a great contest. From a championship organization.

LOL.

Gee Kev, you don't have to shout :D

I can see if they were calling the contest "The Most Popular Canuck", Harold would definitely be near the top. But it's "The Greatest Canuck", and I feel Trevor's done more for the team than any before him or since.

Wrong. Alex Stojanov was traded for Naslund. Anotsoki was traded to Philly for Josef Beranek.

RE: the greatest ...

Bobby Schmautz ...RW, right handed...5'9" 172 lbs soaking wet.

aka.....the Surgeon....good Canadian kid from Saskatoon...tough and dirty...so there.

Some of his stats

1972-1973... 38 goals and 33 assists in 71 games.
1973-1974... 26 goals and 19 assists in 49 games.

Then he went to Boston for a long time and averaged about a point a game.

Then he went to Edmonton in 1980 and then played for the Colorado Rockies which I think was coached by Don Cherry at the time. Those were good times, but the last team Cherry ever coached in the NHL. The Rockies sucked, but they had spirit.

Then Bobby came back to Vancouver for his last year in the NHL and had 27 goals and 34 assists in 61 games. Pretty good stats for getting paid a fraction of what the going rate is today.

Bobby was my greatest Canuck.

And by the way the Sedin sisters are going to be on the same line as Mr. Carter who we picked up from Edmonton. I like Mr. Carter. He's got spirit and good hands and he's tough.

I can hardly wait to watch them on the ice together and hug each other after a goal. Interesting threesome. A black man and two lilly white pink cheeked twins from Sweden, all lovey dovey when they score a goal together. I'm lovin' it. The action starts this Wednesday.

Later,
bobsled.

PS.
I think Tiffany Fox is super duper....and just for fun let's all say it together...
Tiffany, Tiffany, Tiffany, Tiffany, Tiffany, Tiffany, Tiffany Fox.....Tiffany Fox!!
Bobsled is going to be in hibernation cause the Winter is coming... but he'll be watching, and lurking and having fun with all my good friends on PERB. And I like Crystal Fox too. I think it would be nice to have Crystal and Tiffany over for dinner one night. And we'd have ice cream for dessert beside the fire and I'd watch them share it together and kiss each other. I think that would be Yummy. But Bobsled is just dreaming....as he usually does. And now I must go. The Fall is upon us and there is much to do.... The time has come the Walrus said....to speak of other things....
