So, where do we go from here? Is it possible for the new Prime Minister to eradicate this farce of a law and implement something else?
Will he even address it ?

They came out in support of it previously but I doubt if they'd be so dogmatic about its enforcement. They really have bigger fish to fry, to be honest.

To be honest, I'm OK with a 2% bump in GST. It wouldn't make that much difference in my expenditures but would make for a nice bump in gov revenues. And as far as spending goes, well guess what - that's what a government should do when everything else (manufacturing, forestry, mining, fisheries, oil) is in the shitter.

Austerity is a flawed theory and doesn't work.

I suspect, and this is my minion opinion, that if we start creating waves to the government via social media, they might just might ignore us.....

You my friend are brainwashed by the Conservative ads which took every quotation out of context and twisted them into attack ads that lied. Good thing the majority of citizens in Canada did not believe the spin. Trudeau said “The commitment needs to be a commitment to grow the economy and the budget will balance itself,”

He probably believes ISIS is hiding under his bed and waiting to attack him too;)

I don't think that should even be a priority right now either or the only priority you should be thinking about! Give it some time :)

You are fine with 2% more how much more for your gas double how much more to pay for another 100 billion borrowed from the Chinese
How much to pay for the welfare for the unemployed oilfield workers who used to pay all the high income tax and now won't have jobs for the next 5 years. Its good to beat down those rich guys but now you can pay the bills.

As a Canadian, I'm proud to help my other Canadians (deserving or not) because we all look out for each other. We're not Americans.

My only question is, can we poon freely without worrying being busted now ?
I think the vast majority of men in Canada are now safe for the next few years. Nobody has been charged yet, and with the religious nut Harper now ousted, we have no fear of the RCMP being ordered to enforce the stupid law.

You still need to be careful if your Premier or Mayor is a bible-thumping right-wing nut. Saskatchewan's Premier has outlawed strippers. I wouldn't feel safe pooning there. But who the hell goes to Saskatchewan for anything?

Yesterday was a good day for Canadian civil liberties. I think I'll have to go exercise my "born again" liberty this week :)

I doubt that repeal of C-36 will happen soon. The government has little to gain by re-opening the matter, and a lot to lose if placed in a position to be accused of supporting the sex industry.

On the other hand, if C-36 were challenged in court, and struck down by the court, I suspect the Liberals would probably not contest the court ruling.

I haven't heard of any court challenge forthcoming yet. Maybe there never will be one, if the law remains largely unenforced.

Thanks for the info. I ask because my friend's friend's friend ( yeah it's a mouthful) got busted in one of those condos, and he got a permanent record in his file. I would never want that happen to me, and I feel it's ridiculous to give a lifetime record for pooning? Give me a break.

Really? Which city was this in? I thought nobody had been charged yet.

Was he just a pooner or a pimp?

I do believe that PIVOT will take the issue back to court and c36 will be struck down. However, Libs aren't going to follow Amnesty's recommendation to decriminalize sex work entirely. They'll come up with some new bill. Imo.
