Well, its a good read but I am just not convinced by where I work that a collapse is coming. Business is beyond booming, people have really lots of cash to spend. Maybe Seattle is insulated by big tech. We have Amazon, Google, Microsoft here. From what I know tech world has been boosted by Covid19.

I disagree with you Honda... why?
People don't have alot of cash to spend. Most people live from pay check to pay check. Somewhere between 50-60% of Canadians depend on a paycheck to pay the rent/mortgage and with no money coming in; bills don't get paid. No money no food. Food banks need donations and if people don't have money to give, no food for the food banks. A starving population is bad for any government.

We are only at the start of the pandemic now. With social distancing. It is harder to plant crops, tend crops and harvest crops. Which is your food supply. It has been noted in the past most large cities only have less than 1 weeks food accumulated for its population. If food crops and food doesn't come into the large cities, crap is gonna happen....

So after 6 months of not paying rent, is your landlord gonna like you, he has to pay the mortgage on the rental unit. You see the economy is like that... every thing depends on another thing which depends on another thing. If anything in the cycle collapses, all of it fails.... Food supply will be the key. Next will be rent/mortgages.

I suggest that if you have any land at all, plant a garden. Carrots, potatoes, peas, beans.

Wasn’t the economy suppose to collapse after 2000 Tech wreck, 9/11, global financial crisis, European banking crisis etc...

The world will always have hard times and we will struggle but in the end we find a way through and figure things out. This will be no different. Maybe this takes longer, or maybe not. When has it ever paid the bet against human ingenuity.

If history taught us anything is that we'd go to war before we reach another depression.

That's why I tend to watch closely on any articles about the origins of the COVID virus. If Trump can sell the fact that China created the virus and intentionally released it for the purposes of population control and global economic disturbance... then we're going to war... and not some cheesy "10 year Mission Accomplished" proxy-war either, it will be World War 3.

..and I'm sure there are going to be a lot of pure capitalists at the ready to profit from it, and the trickle effect will sustain the economy.

Have you seen the huge negative impact to the Chinese economy? Not only when they first got Covid, but then again as all their important trading partners also got it. Essentially the Chinese economy has been hit twice by Covid. Makes no sense to me that they would create a virus, then first launch it on the themselves and then all their most important trading partners.

China was also able to sequence the genetic code of Covid and shared it for free to anyone who wanted it around the world.

I am not saying that China didn’t make huge mistakes around this entire pandemic, because they have. But to say that this was a plot to wreck the earth so that they can swoop in makes no sense. They are the largest export economy in the world. How exactly do they thrive if they purposely sicken the world?

Yeah, right...

when somebody cites as an economic indicator the idea that Gold's Gym "field" for bankruptcy,

it indicates more about the source than about the economy.

What's next: If you build it they will come ??

(or in some settings) If you build it, they will cum

I recall China purchases the US Treasury Bills, which in turn, services the outrageous US National Debt.
It's bad medicine,to bite the hand which feeds.

WWI started with rifles, ended when tanks and planes entered the war.
WWII started with tanks and planes, ended when nuclear bombs entered the war.
WWIII will start with nuclear bombs, will end before new weapons could be invented.
WWIV will start with rocks and wooden clubs, will end when giant rats and cockroaches wipe out all human being.

Thats what donald duck is trying to do right now. He's always blamed someone else and never has or will except
responsiblity for anything. Thats just typical for him,
So I believe he will be able to sell it to his base. Whether he can get away with it
in the next while is anyones guess.

If he does and it starts WWIII with CHina? What a pandering idiot to his pride to wipe out the entire world
to suit his narcissism. God help us all.

Cuz really, that's all he's trying to do is blame China. He wants the blame off his shoulders and on someone
else. With this douche bag its ALL about blame. His whole fucking life is all about blaming someone else
at whatever cost. 3 and a half years in and he's still blaming Obama for shit he should have
made sure was up and ready. BUT NO............
There's an election coming up and politics or should we say BULLSHIT!! Runs the day.

Things are slowly coming to an end and people will be going back to work soon and businesses will be opening back up. The people that are living paycheque to paycheque have probably always lived that way...and probably always will. The good that will come out of this is that people will be better prepared for an emergency that could be far worse then this one. I agree that you should have a piece of land and grow your own food, have emergency food and water rations and be properly prepared in case there is a real emergency like an earthquake or a flood and you are stranded for weeks on end. Also have some cash, gold silver stashed away in case there is a run on banks and you can’t get your money out. Get to know your neighbours better, because you might be counting on each other in the future.

Good point and good questions, how can I disagree with you except I noticed that Chinese goverment somehow managed to put a very hot burning and complicated Hongkong issue away. They have arrested about 15 leaders and they solved a problem. Revolution is over for now. Did they used COVID19 to do it? I don't know but I I'm suspicious.

Nice, lets talk about war. If one side starts to lose, then they will use nuclear weapons. Lets look at a war between Pakistan and India. Muslim vs Hindu. If they have a nuclear war, the fallout lands over here in North America.

So lets talk about how bad it is with the virus now, isolated at home and if you go out you have a mask on and wear medical gloves. That's not so bad.

With nuclear fallout you will need air-tight living quarters, an uncontaminated water supply and if you want to go out, you will wear a gas mask and hazmat suit. Where does your food come from? How airtight is your apartment/house.

With the event of the Gulf War and War on terrorism, China and Russia and India have been catching up on weapon technology (Conventional War).

You should have confidence on your country's ability to defend itself, but pls perish any thought of any war going nuclear. Its too terrible to contemplate.

To survive a human needs shelter, water and food. A collapsed economy will focus on food, and shelter, (water is publicly supplied already). One thing to concentrate on beyond this, is transportation, to get food to the cities.

The main thing people are asking for and want right now is MONEY. The ability to get work, to get money is what people are conditioned to think about. Money buys the food and pays for housing and other stuff.

Although the stock market is an good indicator of the economy, it dosen't feed people. The stock market is about other things besides the neccessary things in life (shelter, water, food).
