It was one of those movies where you wished the movie ended a hour ago. When im leaving almost everybody made similiar comments about how bad it was. Guess rottentomatoes is wrong sometimes with the ratings.

I still found the movie better than 90% of the crap out there...

Try "Beastly" and let me know what you think. From the cover I thought it might be a good monster film like Twilight, but it turned out to be more of a chick flick. I don't usually go for them, but this is worth a shot IMO and way better than Notebook. But be sure to bring a few hankies with the bacardi.

I liked "Drive" a lot -- great acting, great mood setting, lots of homage to earlier movies, and great action setpieces sprinkled throughout -- and it didn't cost a Transformers-like budget. Perhaps it was marketed as more of a non-stop action movie like something with Vin Diesel or Jason Statham?

And Rotten Tomatoes (like Metacritic) can't actually get it "wrong" -- all it does it collect "postive" or "negative" from reviews elsewhere, to provide a critical consensus. "Arty" movies often get a higher rating, and genre movies often get a lower rating (Drive is an arty genre movie). I often disagree with the consensus when it is in the middle somewhere, but have never disagreed with the 90% plus ratings or the 20% and below ratings.

No, Bucky Larsen is the worst of the year. I am still angry and feel like I was scammed. 0% on rotten tomato.

I am in love with Drive, it was my most amazing movie experience of the year for me. I can see it is not for everyone. People who prefer 90 style action movies may want to skip it. Also people who have issues with on-screen violence may want to skip it or bring along a friend to tell when to open your eyes. But saying that the audience I saw Drive with was clapping at the end and it is running in the mids 80s with positive feedback with people. (not reviewers)

Ryan Gosling was very enjoyable as the Driver. He plays it like Clint Eastwood from the Man with no name series combine with Steve Mcqueen's Bullitt cool.

The whole movie is pure style and so rich in atmosphere. The story reads like an Elmore Leonard novel. I am thinking about running off by myself tonight to see it again.

I liked it quite a lot. The movie kind of screams early Michael Mann (Miami Vice), even down to the neon pink opening credits. Gosling is serviceable... It's definitely worth seeing, if only for the solid cast and extreme level of violence.

Check out the The Guard which also opened this weekend and is terrific.

The early scene in the movie, evading cops...helicopter views at night over the city, police chatter, etc...reminded me of Michael Mann as well, ....Heat (amazing movie) and Miami Vice (lame movie). The intense music at the beginning as well, sounded very Eno ...from the Heat sound track. Think Bank scene music in Heat:

This was the best movie I have seen this year. Kind of slow in the first hour but it picks up and turns out really well. Awesome gory violence and a good ending.

I had the chance to see it again last weekend and by far it is the best movie I've seen this year.

2011 Top 3 (So far):

1. Drive
2. Hanna
3. The Guard

There is very little coming out the rest year that I'm looking forward, but here's one.

(Especially if you are a fan of Once / Swell Season):
