Yeah I have had a cold for 3 days now.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to fight it off.
Any special remedies.
I always have a hard time sleeping. Breathing is hard at night in bed. I'm so stuffed up.

I will try almost anything.

Long ago, I used to get wicked head colds or flus, followed by miserable bronchial coughs. This combination lasted two or three weeks, and occurred four or five times annually. Then Echinacea came along, and I only have one, if any each year, and it is very short lived.

The trick with Echinacea is to have it handy, and take it at the first hint of a cold. I just finished one, and it lasted a mere three days. I don't expect another one till next year. Apparently it gives the immune system a boost; its benefits were discovered long ago by the Plains Indians. Whatever, it works for me!

L-Glutamine ... your body uses it for making antibodies ... fighting a cold will deplete your stores and contribute to feelings of fatigue, muscle aches, upset tummy and intestines.

won't 'cure' the cold or flu but considering that it is prescribed to HIV/AIDs patients for all the above reasons, it can't hurt if you have a cold.

availabe at any health food store. mix with water and drink. doesn't store in liquid form.

Take one or two Echinacea capsules and 4 unscented garlic gel capsules three times per day.

Drink lots and lots of orange and apple juice. Vitamin C is the best natural boost to the immune system.

Cold FX

Try Cold FX for colds.

First I heard of this was on a news special awhile ago where they interviewed a bunch of doctors, hospitals and researchers. I understand it is the only cold medicine that has been clinically tested and demonstrated by controlled trials to actually help shorten colds and reduce cold symptoms.

It was developed in Canada (in Edmonton I believe) and I understand is a special derivative of some of the constituent ingredients of ginseng or echinacea.

I've seen it in pharmacies, but it is quite expensive (still under patent). It's also used by many major sport teams for their players - both in advance of colds (helps build up immune systems) and during colds (shortens the duration of colds).

If anyone has tried it perhaps they can let everyone know what they think of it.
