I believe our judges should be elected. Would it not make them more accountable for the decisions they make. If they are constantly being soft or allowing early release to someone who reoffends, why would they be re-elected. They are only human, but if a human does not learn from their mistakes, why would we support them.
Just my two-bits.

I've been in the states for a while and I don't think there is any improvement from voting in judges. Its almost, in effect, mob rule. Whatever foolish thing people want they get.

Maybe they should just test them regularly. Leave a ten dollar bill on the ground and see if they ask if someone lost some money.

That system just seems like a huge failure to me. Everytime someone is wrongfully convicted the root cause seems to be that the Judges,DAs, and Sheriffs were under pressure to convict someone in a reelection year. The recent Duke rape case fiasco seems to be all the fault of a prosecutor who used it to get reelected.
