The Cecil is open,ladies and gentlemen.They have ID scanners and cameras now so it's probably the safest bar in town.You can be sure the baddies are staying away.We need to support the staff and girls,a lot of people think they are still closed.Let's show them that we still love 'em and get out to the Cecil.

My terrace overlooks the street entrance to the Cecil. I heard sirens but was too busy to look.

The scanner / ID is a charade ... It stops joe average from walking into the club at the main entrance with a metal object ... Do they scan everybody everytime ? What about the Lobby entrance and the back door by the bar ?
The Cecil was always safe. If you see 20 to 30 gang members walk into the bar ... hey ... time for you to leave quickly. Do you think a guy with a gun is going to be scanned ...

I use to go to the Cecil all the time, back when I was 16, being tall and needing to shave was all that was needed in the late 80s
I wouldn't go now however.
These scanners are a scam, they scan joe 6-pack who comes once a year.
But allow all their regulars in with no hassles.

That is the whole point of the scanner system. Barwatch clubs go thru bouncers like tissue paper ... That is why they need to scan in everybody because there is no history ... That is the reason d'etre for Barwatch ..
How many times are you going to scan a regular .... it'd be a waste of time.
You are going to scan in joe 6-pack precisely because he comes only once a year.
Um you would scan a regular each and everytime, in case there is a shooting or something like that, so you know who was at the bar that night.
Like they would have a list of each person who entered that evening.
If regulars are giving special treatment, their would be no history of them being there when an event happened, except for the memory of the bouncer.

I'm pretty sure that the "something like that" wouldn't be done by a regular ... Why fuck up your hangout is the logic that applies ...
I wasn't there for the shooting but there have been situations where there might be "something" happening. Guess what ... a Cecil staffer would sort of suggest it would be a good time to exit by the rear door ...

I don't think the Cecil has a 20 year old bouncer.
Most of the staff have been there for eons ... and they know their customers.
I'm hoping that all the regulars give the 20 year old a really rough time about scanning ... THE SYSTEM DOESN"T WORK ..
I'll be doing the Jedi Knight sort of wave of my hand and tell him he doesn't need to scan my DL ...

At least half the crowd ... So you have a line-up ... and the kid is rescanning the DL of the guy that was there the day before ???

Look at the flow of this conversation ... You complain that the regulars are not scanned ... you suggest the regulars would be the source of any problem,
then you argue that the system has to scan regulars because a 20 year old bouncer shouldn't be making that type of decision ....
How would you characterize your opinion ... I'd say you were the captain of a leaky boat and you were insisting that if we scanned everybody the boat wouldn't be sinking ...
