Is there a conspiracy to make a North American Union like Europe?
Are the coins already minted?
Over on the 911 Thread Nina posted a video witha guy asserting it has. Here's information to the contrary. It may be in the works, but according to this, the Amero coins in production are not by the US Mint. Not yet...

For the record. I am posting information starting this thread.
Not opinion. (* Except a sentence below)
It may be true that behind closed doors certain people of influence are laying the groundwork for such a Union. Many people would like a 'world without borders'. (Such the modern, in-vogue catch phrase!) * Personally, I wouldn't want to live in a house without walls. That's what a border is, even if it's a pain in the ass. It serves a very real, and often positive purpose.
What do you think?

As far as the coins being already minted,
as the Nina link on the other thread asserted - - -

The following comes from Wikipedia:

[edit] Rumors of "Amero coins"
In August 2007, rumors and conspiracy theories began circulating across the Internet regarding alleged United States Treasury-issued "amero" coins.

The inspiration behind these rumors may have been the posting of images of medallions created by coin designer Daniel Carr.[1] Carr, who designed the New York and Rhode Island 2001 statehood quarters, sells medals and tokens of his own design on his commercial website, "Designs Computed" (also known as "DC Coin").[1] Among his designs are a series of gold, silver and copper fantasy issues of "amero coins" ranging in denomination from one to one thousand.[1] The coins have the legend "Union of North America" on the back with his company's logo, a stylized "DC",[20] in small type.[21] Concerning his "amero" designs, he mentions on his website:

“ My goal with these coins is not to endorse a Union of North America or a common "Amero" currency. I fully support the United States Constitution, and I would not welcome (in any form) a diminishment of its provisions. I expect that these coins will help make more people aware of the issue and the possible ramifications. I leave it up to others to decide if they are in favor of, or against a North American Union. And I encourage citizens to voice their approval or disapproval of government plans that impact them.[22] ”

Unauthorized postings of images taken from his website have been reposted widely across the Internet, often being used as supposed "proof" of the amero coinage. Notably, former Internet radio talk show host Hal Turner ran a full article on his website about the "amero coin", claiming to have arranged for a United States Government minted "amero" to be smuggled out of the Treasury Department by an employee of that organization.[23]

Following Turner's assertions of federal minting of ameros, a web site marketing the curio coins released a statement debunking Turner's claims of a government cover up regarding Daniel Carr's amero.[/

So apparently you can get these coins like collector items..
I see an eagle on them, but no maple leaf or burrito.

I was avoiding posting links, but I decided it would be appreciated by most, so I am posting two :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amero#Rumors_of_.22Amero_coins.22.

http://amerocurrency.com/

Wikipedia attempts to be neutral. The second link is biased but worthwhile.

They are certainly elegant designs of coins.
The artist actually designed two of the recent US State Quarters
Here's one of the 'Ameros':

Personally, I think it's not Looney enough.

It is typical, tho, of an american version of what would be included on a supposedly North American coin: where are the representative symbols of the other two countries?

You do know that an eagles nest in the middle of a lake (ie, where mexico city now stands) is depicted either on the coinage or on the flag of mexico... it's been a while, so I can't remember.

So Canadians are more left out than the mexicans...however, I don't think that mexicans were included with any forethought...

Hubba, having eagles around (we've got a huge eagle population in BC)...and having them identified as a national symbol... are two very different things ;)

I like how everyone is getting upset about the design of a fictitious coin design done by an American artist.

While a North American Union is not impossible, it is rather unlikely to happen within the next 25 to 50 years.
In the short term, Barak Obama is looking like the next US president, and he isn't too keen on NAFTA, so I doubt he'd be too interested in a union.
Mexico's economy has got a long way to go before either Canada or the USA would want to be part of a economic union with them.

The problem with a Canadian/American union would be representation. The 2 countries are very unequal in size of population and scale of economy. Either Canada gets representation greater than it's contribution, or it get absorbed into the United States as essentially a collection of new states. Either way is likely to be unpalatable to one country or the other.

I don't see how this would work. Any ideas?

How would it work?

I don't see this happening any time soon .. the US is a police state .. so how are we going to have open boarders with out turning Canada and Mexico both it to some more of the same.

We can call it "ENSA" .. the enforced Nationalist States of America.
Maybe "Enema" would be the word for it.

I just got an e-mail with several links in it about this subject.

This article from the Boston Globe is a worthwhile read on the subject, for those interested.

http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/ideas/articles/2007/11/25/the_amero_conspiracy/

Rather than just post a link, here's the first paragraphs :

By Drake Bennett
November 25, 2007

SINCE HE BEGAN his presidential campaign, Republican candidate Mitt Romney has held more than 125 "Ask Mitt Anything" town hall forums, and the people who have shown up for them have done their best to make the events live up to their name. There have been questions about medical marijuana, about abolishing the income tax, about Romney's Mormonism and his potential vice president.

more stories like thisOf course, certain topics come up more than others. One is healthcare. Another is Iraq. A third is the North American Union.

The North American Union is a supranational organization, modeled on the European Union, that will soon fuse Canada, the United States, and Mexico into a single economic and political unit. The details are still being worked out by the countries' leaders, but the NAU's central governing body will have the power to nullify the laws of its member states. Goods and people will flow among the three countries unimpeded, aided by a network of continent-girdling superhighways. The US and Canadian dollars, along with the peso, will be phased out and replaced by a common North American currency called the amero.

Bush, Harper and Vicente Fox met on April 11, 2006 in Cancun at a resort called Le Blanc to discuss the North American Union. I don't think the Amero is a conspiracy, it's been planned for some time now. Not an easy sell or quick implementation. Things seem to be falling into place though.

Sorry I have no press clippings or links, you just have to take my word for it.

Nina,

Thanks for posting on this.

But if you took the time to read the article, actually the very-next-line in that article , that was not posted in the link-teaser, you'd see that it's not real.

So please, don't panic, be inflammitory, and take things out of context of the whole - - (a popular conspiracy-theory method of 'fact'/'evidence') - - don't jump to selective conclusions like that without reading the whole. Otherwise you'll wake up thinking bigfoot is real, and sexy, and George Bush is next running for Canadian Premiere...is all true, just google it!

=P~~~

So...

You started a thread with false pretenses to bait people with a hoax just so you could be condescending to others who may actually be concerned about our future.

You are a piece of work, hope you had your fun.

That's how the average narcissist works, but they never seem to see the reality of who they REALLY are versus how they THINK they are. This, "I'm smarter than everyone here and let me put you down to emphasize that fact" is getting old already

Being the greenback is the preferred currency of 99% of all drug cartels in the world, and they are the largest possessors of the greenback, I doubt that this could happen any time soon.

It would lead to a larger economic collapse that we are already facing.
