I was riding the double decker bus from Schwartz Bay to downtown Victoria when it broke down. Some of us started hitchhiking rather than wait for a replacement bus.
I stuck my thumb out and a work van pulled up with two rough looking construction workers inside. First question they asked " are you a serial killer?" I said "no". They said " well we are. hop in" lol.
Well, you do have to be careful with hitchhikers. I was working in Northern Ontario and I picked up a guy hitchhiking on a road in middle of nowhere. Dropped off him off in town. Later the OPP quizzed me for details. Apparently he was a suspect in a murder that had occurred nearby. Questioned twice, insufficient evidence to charge the guy. So you never know........
