So while we are sharing recipes ...
I follow several southern style cooking blogs. Janet's Appalachian Kitchen comes up with some great ones now and then and since this coming weekend I have a minor gathering of 3 bubbles I wanted something different for dessert. Came across these babies and if they are good as they seem I will be all over these like white on rice!!

"Cinnamon Apple Raisin Biscuits
I sure hope y'all had a great weekend. Mine was fair to midlin' as I didn't get all my chores I had planned done but I did get some new recipes cooked up for y'all this week. These biscuits, oh my goodness are they good. I fixed these up for breakfast this morning and I could've eaten the whole pan. This is another of those ideas I've had rolling around in this ole noggin' of mine and I am thrilled that they turned out like I had hoped they would. These will also be a nice addition to our camping menu over the summer.
I think I am just about as bad as Daddy is at trying out new ways to fix a biscuit. There is nothing in the world better than a big ole cat head biscuit like Nannie Polly made back in the day but getting creative with different ingredients sure is fun, especially when it turns out good. Yesterday I fixed up a pan of bacon grease biscuits that turned out good as well, I'll be sharing that recipe later on this week. I didn't know till last night when I was on the phone with Mama that my Great Grandmother, Maw Rackley, always fixed her biscuits with bacon grease, never using lard as Nannie Polly did. Well, if they only knew how good adding some apples, cinnamon and raisins were to a biscuit I bet they would've made them too. Daddy has an idea for a sweet potato and pecan biscuit that I am going to try if he will ever get that recipe out of his head and in a pan to see how it tastes.
Cinnamon Apple Raisin Biscuits (makes 12 biscuits)
2 C. self rising flour
1/4 C. sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 large apple, peeled and grated
1/2 stick of cold butter, grated
2, 1 oz. boxes of raisins
3/4 C. milk
2 T. butter, melted (for brushing after baking)
In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar and cinnamon. Stir in the grated apple, butter and raisins. Stir in the milk and mix just till the dough comes together then turn out onto a floured surface and pull the dough together into a ball then gently press it down to 1/2" thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter. Place them on a greased sheet pan, making sure the biscuits are touching each other. Repeat with remaining dough. Bake in a 425 degree oven for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, make the glaze.
1/4 C. powdered sugar
1 T. milk
Stir to combine
Once the biscuits are done, brush them with the melted butter then spoon some of the glaze over each biscuit."
