Djokovic vs Federer

Williams vs Helen Keller

Wow, an injection of new blood is imperative
injection of new blood…really?
you obviously have no clue what you're talking about.
and who the hell is Helen Keller?

MENS

Wawrinka
Murray
Cilic
Nishikori
Raonic
Anderson
Berdych

WOMENS

Kvitova
Halep
Wozniacki
Azarenka
Petkovic
Bencic

as the sr citizen on the tour, RF is gliding around the court like
Mikhail Baryshnikov…and beating guys 5-10 yrs his junior. now that's remarkable!
can't recall another sports figure (male or female) staying on top of their game late in their career.
cheering him on if he makes the final but will be tough vs Nole or Marin.

Totally agree with Manni. Op does not have a clue what he is talking about.

There are new pros entering the circuit every day. The fact that the older pros are still on top is because they are still the best!!! Look at Serena for example. She is on the verge of earning a calendar grand slam. A feat not accomplished since Steffi Graf did it in 1988. And Serena won her first grand slam event some 15 years ago. This is something that should be celebrated, not berated.

And don't say the that the lower ranked players don't have a chance to win. Look at Serena's early career: "Ranked world No. 304, she upset world No. 7 Mary Pierce and world No. 4 Monica Seles, recording her first career wins over top 10 players and becoming the lowest-ranked player in the open era to defeat two top 10 opponents in one tournament." (taken from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serena_Williams ) Serena did this based on her skill set. Today's current young players may do the same if they have the skills.

Anyone with an interest in Tennis should get off the couch and get out to the Vancouver Open when it is in town (Mid August). The Venue is Hollyburn Club, the setting is spectacular, tickets are easy to procure. You can sit courtside and watch players just below the top tier and get a sense of how hard those men and women are hitting the ball every stroke. Very impressive spectator sport.

Sometimes all a tournament needs is a major upset to get people off their feet. Roberta Vinci snapped Serena Williams dream of winning the Grand Slam. Nobody gave Vinci a chance and she still won. Its going to be an all Italian final, Vinci vs Flavia Pennetta.

My only complaint is there has been limited coverage (where I have been located the past week with the most basic cable) to see any of the matches in the US Open.

Whatever happened to those fantastic Night games? Jimmy Connors when he was making a huge comeback late in his career comes to mind.

tsn2. I saw some. Saw the memorable Connors match too. He was 38 vs Fed 34. But Connors lost next round in semis.
Fed will have a difficult time tomorrow, Djoker looks equally on top of his game, but just maybe.....one can dream. I think it worth watching.

The last match between Djoker and Fed on a similar surface was won by Fed. But is was a best of 3 sets non-slam match. The question is does Fed have the energy at age 34 to beat Djoker in a 5 set match where the stakes are higher. We will know shortly.

I won't see it, damn. It's on TSN4 FFS.

Sure NASCAR and curling or BC Lions are on but not a men's tennis championship.

Nole was just too good averting those break points in the 4th…YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS! (that's a Johnny Mac maxim for those who know btw)
unfreakin believable! but even if Roger had won that 4th, a 5th set win would have been improbable. congrats Novak on your 10th Slam…
7 more to catch RF.

I enjoyed the Women's Final as well as much as I wanted SW tie Steffi's achievement,
lots of long rallies and feather touches by Vinci around the net.
and great to see genuine admiration and respect displayed between Vinci and Pennetta…two childhood friends
growing up in the game.
